Local Businesses Cater To The Betrothed —

Awash In Wedding Wonders

By Kendra Bobowick

A dull pewter sky hung over white wedding tents on the lawn of The Dana-Holcombe House on May 11, when the bed and breakfast hosted a Wedding Steps bridal show. But beneath the canvas moods were bright amid bursts of flowers, balloons, and couples carrying flutes of champagne through the kitchen and outdoors to lawns and gardens dressed for celebration.

Brides and their maids of honor, mothers, and in many cases with friends and sisters, walked through the bed and breakfast’s rooms or ventured upstairs to see the wedding suite. Below were the dresses, floral arrangements, music, photographers, bartenders, and all other professionals involved in making a wedding day special.

Melanie Mattegat, the owner of Julie Allen Bridal on South Main Street, greeted guests, who soon saw her silk and taffeta dresses on display. Spreading her hands and looking at the rooms’ decorations and spaces designed to welcome guests, she encouraged guests to look at the house as a venue for receptions or rehearsal dinners.

Bridal show producer Paul Ayoub led guests through the day’s displays. Neil Landino showed off his photography as soon-to-be brides and grooms, including Kristine Henley and Christopher Viglietta, perused his portraits and closeups. Also touting their images were photographers Louis David of David Photos, and Michael and Taryn Aiello of Aiello Photography.

Ready with their cosmetics were Mary Kay representatives Sharon Wilson and Lorrie Lewis. As guests passed from beneath one tent and crossed the landscaped lawn to another, balloons and ribbons caught the eye. Balloons Etc had decorated the courtyard. Sarah Pineault with All Season Party Rentals LLC walked visitors from the yard toward the tent.

Caught by surprise were sisters Amanda and Ashley Raymond, with their mother Audette. The three looked at goods presented by resident Dawn Handwerker Leonardi’s booth, Truly Yours LLC Bartenders, video producers, DJs, tent companies, gift and travel vendors, and met Dana-Holcombe House owners Jane and John Vouros.
