Be A Patriot For The Young

To the Editor:

Now that the budget referendum has been defeated for a second time, I sincerely hope the Legislative Council will pause to reflect on making corrective changes to the budget in favor of education. They had three opportunities at the last meeting before this referendum to do so. Failing that = failing this referendum.

Please listen. Don’t let ego get in the way. If the message isn’t clear enough, let me make mine clear. I will vote No until you restore funds to the education budget. If you choose to cut even $1 from the education budget I will vote No vigorously for as long as it takes for you to get the message. I urge my fellow education supporters to do the same. Do not be coerced into agreeing to this budget. Be a patriot for the youngest among us who only have our voices and our votes to speak for them at the polls. We tell our children that democracy works. Let us show them through our leadership.
