Health District Appoints Sanitarian

The Newtown Health District has appointed a new sanitarian. Edward Knapik of Monroe began his duties with the Health District on April 30.
Mr Knapik grew up in Stratford and moved to Monroe in 1993. He graduated from Bunnell High School and earned his bachelor of science degree in biology from the University of Bridgeport.
He is a registered sanitarian.
Among his duties with the Health District are review of plans and inspection of waste disposal and water supply systems. He is also certified by the state for food service inspection, waste disposal, and lead inspection.
Mr Knapik has been a registered sanitarian for 18 years. He was employed as a registered sanitarian from 1986 to the present for the Stratford Health Department. From 1981 to 1986 he was the general assistance administrator for Stratford.
Prior to that he was a police officer in Ansonia for six years and a welfare eligibility technician for the state of Connecticut in Bridgeport.
His professional memberships include the Connecticut Environmental Health Association and Connecticut Association of Food and Dairy Sanitarians.
Mr Knapik and his wife Margaret have four children, Karyn, 22, Ellen, 19, Allison, 17, and Edward, 16.
