Designs For Competition

Sherry Sanelli will be the guest speaker for this month’s Garden Club of Newtown meeting, to which the public is welcome.

Ms Sanelli will present a program she calls “Flowers With Flair” on Tuesday, May 25. She will be helping members and attendees learn about designing for a flower show.

Ms Sanelli, who lives in Woodbury, is a National Garden Club accredited judge. She has been involved in the Connecticut Flower and Garden Show for many years, including serving as chairman in 2001 and 2002.

She is a member of the Connecticut Judges Council, Creative Arrangers of CT, and National Flower Arrangers who has won numerous top awards for her designs including the Connecticut Tribute Award for Design. She has judged major state shows, including Philadelphia and has designs pictured in the book Holiday Happenings.

A garden club member for over 25 years, Ms Sanelli is a past president of her club, serves on the New England Regional board, and is currently serving as first vice president of The Federated Garden Clubs of Connecticut.

The program of The Garden Club of Newtown will begin at 1 pm. Meetings are in the Olga Knoepke Meeting Room at C.H. Booth Library, 25 Main Street in Newtown. Registration is not necessary, but additional information is available by calling 270-1108.
