Candlewood Members Named Their

Favorite Flagpole Photographer Works

Flagpole Photographers held its Annual Members’ Exhibition & Competition at C.H. Booth Library last month, with members showing some of their favorite prints in the Olga Knoepke Meeting Room for two days.

Kathleen Skandera and Carol Gibson, both members of Candlewood Camera Club, served as this year’s judges.

The 10th Annual Dave Kriger Nature Award was presented this year to Bob Berthier for “Teton Peaks – Sunrise.” That print was also the first place winner in the show’s black and white division.

Introduced last year, The Bruce Allen Memorial Award is an open category award, and The Jeanette Talarino Memorial Award is presented in the floral category.

This year these honors were given to, respectively, Anne Martin for “A Little Dark Secret” and Jim Talarino for “Water Lily.”

Ms Martin was also presented The Judges’ Best in Show Award and won first place in the color photography division for “A Little Dark Secret.”

Mr Talarino was the winner of the 3rd Annual People’s Choice Award for his work, “Sunset at Lake Waramaug.”

Seventeen prints were entered into the color photography division. In addition to Ms Martin, top awards included second place for “Boy Oh Boy” by Anne Martin, third place for “Just A Little Rest” by Tom Coryat, and honorable mentions for “Waves of Amber Grain” by Tom Coryat and “Rosa” by Joe Pereira.

Eight prints comprised this year’s black and white division. In addition to Mr Berthier’s work, awards included second place for Barry Connolly’s “Morning Walk,” third place for Jill Baimel’s “Fence at Union Cemetery,” and honorable mentions for Mr Berthier’s “Evening Shadows” and Barry Connolly’s “Sun Drenched.”
