Burglary/Larceny

Police report they are investigating a burglary/larceny which occurred sometime on May 14 or 15 at a Pebble Road residence. The burglar entered the residence and stole many electronic devices, police said. Police ask anyone with information about the crime to contact them at 426-5841, or at 270-8888.

Warrant Issued

After learning that police held a warrant for his arrest, Steven Santaniello, 21, of 2 Fox Hollow Lane turned himself over to police on May 19 and was charged with failure to respond to an infraction and also with violating the town’s parking ordinance, police said.

Police said that Santaniello had not responded to a parking ticket that they issued to him on February 16. Police released Santaniello on $37 bail for a June 3 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.

Main Street Accident

Police report a two-vehicle accident on Main Street in front of Newtown General Store about 6:20 am May 19.

Southbound motorist Nicholas Kraich, 19, of 17 Sawmill Ridge Road, who was driving a 1995 Saab 900 four-door hatchback, slowed and then stopped to turn right into a parking space in front of the store, police said.

As the Saab was making the right turn, a 1994 Chevrolet van driven by Carmen Salinas-Ordonez, 37, of Springfield, Va, which had been traveling behind the Saab, passed the Saab on the right, resulting in a collision, police said.

There were no injuries. Police issued Salinas-Ordonez a written warning for passing on the right.
