Alzheimerâs Disease Support Group
SOUTHBURY â Brownstein Jewish Family Service is again partnering with the Alzheimerâs Association to offer a special four-week program for people with early stage Alzheimerâs or related dementia and their primary caregivers.
The sessions will combine education and support to enhance an understanding of dementia and to show how people with early-stage cognitive disorders can actively participate in decisions affecting their lives.
The group will meet at the Walzer Family Jewish Community Campus, 444 Main Street North, on four Mondays, June 7, 14, 21, and 28, from 2 to 4 pm.
Developed for early-stage people with memory disorders, this four-part series discusses ways in which symptoms can be managed. Facilitators will work with early-stage persons and their care-partners to create individualized methods to help maintain abilities longer and promote effective coping.
This program is free of charge, but enrollment is limited and preregistration is required. For questions, call Debby Horowitz at 203-267-3177, ext 105. To register, call Cindy Burke at the Alzheimerâs Association at 860-945-3301.
