Bernard R. Keeler

Bernard R. “Dick” Keeler, 75, of Danbury died May 13 from brain cancer. In his final days he was surrounded by family. He was born in Norwalk to Maryjane Chambers and Bernard R. Keeler, Sr.

His wife, Beverly A. (Lindquist) Keeler; his two children, William R. Keeler, and his wife Dawn, of Sandy Hook and Kimberly McCarthy, and her husband Alfred, of Boise, Idaho; his brother, William Keeler, and his wife Georgene; four grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews survive Mr Keeler. His brother, Robert Keeler, predeceased him.

Mr Keeler grew up in Ridgefield, later enlisting in the US Navy where he was involved in the Cuban Blockade. He was also recognized for assisting in the retrieval of the space capsule of astronaut Alan Shepard. After being honorably discharged he moved to Danbury, where he spent the remainder of his life.

He was a devoted husband, loving father, and grandfather. He was a retired electrical contractor and an avid NASCAR race fan.

There will be no calling hours. Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
