A memorial service will take place Saturday, May 21, at St Rose of Lima Church, Newtown, at 12:30 pm, for Mary Anne Young of Newtown, who died March 30.

Born in Rutland, Vt., to Ruth and George Young, she lived many years in Burlington, Vt., and attended the University of Vermont.

Her son, Daniel Young; longtime friend Stan Kennedy; sister, Ruth Ellen Neverdousky; brothers, Jesse and Richard Young; a granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews survive Ms Young.

She worked for many years in the legal field. She will be best remembered for her holiday gatherings, bringing comfort and joy to family and friends alike. She was always quick to offer help and support.

Ms Young was a loyal and lifelong fan of the Boston Red Sox, had tremendous pride in her Irish heritage, and great love for her pet beagles. She was a wonderful friend to many, who will be remembered for her good nature and humor, and be greatly missed by family and friends.
