Boys U10

Cobras 0, Southbury 0 – Keegan Lombard (with a number of key tackles) and goaltender Sean Elliott anchored the defense and led the Cobras to the draw. Pieter Martino, Noah Sock, Matt Rahtelli and Eric Fiore supported the D as Dan Bittman and Nick Barreto led the charge on offense.

Boys U11

Cheshire 1, Crusaders 0 (State Cup) – Conrad Normann and Adam Ellison worked hard to break through the Cheshire defense. Josh Barrett, Justin Brophy and Greg Campbell were tough on defense and Sean Burson was solid in the net but the Crusaders fell in State Cup action.

Crusaders 4, New Milford 2 – Dan Gallagher, Hank Helgren, Ryan Dunnigan, and John Imbimbo each scored to bring the Crusaders to a 4-2 win against New Milford. Chris McGowan and Jason Marks provided offensive support with Andre Capozziello bringing up the midfield. Travis LeBlanc was awesome on defense and Austin Puleri was tough in the net.

Girls U11

Power 3, Woodbury 2 – Ali Korchman, Cristina Naldini and Meaghan Carney scored to lead the Power to the win. Maddy Keane had a pair of assists and Naldini had one. Nicole Davis played well at forward and Leah Barrett, coming off a three-week injury, played strong at defense. Kendall Svanda and Christina Caporale shared the duties at goal.

Boys U12

Danbury 2, Strikers 1 – Eric Thornberg scored the lone goal on a rebound off Max Brazo’s direct kick, but the Strikers fell to Danbury. Josh Engler and Daniel Lynch were solid on defense. Nicolas Wright, Daniel Hufziger and Ryan Pasko played well.

Strikers 5, New Milford 4 – Daniel Lynch scored two goals as Kyle Moore, Michael Gould and Ishan Tatake added a solo to lead the Strikers to the win. Alex Miller, Aaron Nezvesky and Michael Carrafiello were good on offense. Tony Vacaro and Kyle Wildman played well.

Girls U14

Hurricanes 2, Brookfield 0 – The Hurricanes dominated play from the first whistle and recorded a win over division powerhouse Brookfield. Kelley Sullivan and Haley Keane scored the goals while Danielle Norris assisted on both goals and Colleen Lynch assisted on the first. Kelley Anne Carney, Emily Weber and Sarah Shannon dominated the offensive play for the Hurricanes.

Travel Soccer Registration

Registration for the 2005-06 travel season will be held Wednesday, May 25, from 5 to 8 pm, at the Reed School cafetorium. All players will need a completed Newtown Soccer Club Registration form (can be downloaded off the web site at www.newtownsoccerclub.org or hard copies can be found at the library), a small head-shot photo of your son or daughter, signature of son or daughter on a white piece of paper (no bigger than two inches across and one inch high), check made out to Newtown Soccer Club for $180, and a copy of birth certificate (if player has not been on a Newtown Travel team before).

Check the soccer club web site for age requirements. Tryout dates and a Parent’s Information Sheet will be handed out at this in-person registration, however tryouts will be held during the weeks of June 6th and June 13th. Any questions, email vptravelsoccer@newtownsoccerclub.org.

IN-TOWN

Boys U8

Huskies 5, Goldenhawks 1 – Owen Gaston scored three goals and Stephen Walsh chipped in with two to lead the Huskies to the win. Jared Brady and Alex Gerbo both played an overall excellent game. For the Goldenhawks, John Carlson netted the goal. Akshay Delity played great defense and James Barry and Joshua Tuffy played well.

Strikers 5, Blazing Blizzards 0 – Lukas Palumbo, Tim Kelly, Luca Imbimbo and Mustafa Sahki all tallied goals for the Strikers. Albert Dean was a standout in goal and Muhammed Sahki shored up a strong defense.

Strikers 0, Blue Thunder 0 – The Strikers and Blue Thunder played through the pouring rain to a 0-0 tie. For the Strikers, Spencer Tolson, Lukas Palumbo and Dylan Palumbo were amazing on defense while David Kent. For the Thunder, Sawyer Conrad led the way in goal. Connor Roche, Chris Zakur and Harry Solaski all had excellent games up front for the offense.

Blazing Blizzards 2, Wolverines 1 – Mitchel Stewart and Miguel Rodriguez scored the goals to lift the Blizzards to the win. Henry Summ was strong in net. For the Wolverines, Charlie Poarch scored the goal off an Adam Hufziger assists. Kyle Watkins and Sander Nydell played well on D.

Tigers 3, Dragons 2 – Connor Gallagher scored twice and was impenetrable in goal for the Tigers. Austin Raftery also scored while Paul O’Leary, Tim Pritchett, and Cary Deyoung played solid defense. Doug Miller racked up the Dragons two goals with great offensive support from Trevor Connolly and Kevin Ovendorf. Trey DeWald was strong in the goal.

Wizards 4, Bulldogs 1 – John Abraham scored a pair of goals as Connor Hanley and Zach Waller added one apiece to lead the Wizards. Nick Klein was solid on D. For the ‘Dogs, Clayton Gattey scored while Christian Madaus and Ryan King played well and Michael Cook was solid in the net.

Gators 3, Dragons 2 – Trevor Connolly, Brenton Scott and Zack Pollock scored to lead the Gators past the Dragons. Julian Lewis played terrific in the goal. For the Dragons, Doug Miller and Kevin Ovendorf scored as Issac Farrington kept the game close defensively. Trey Dewald and Deegan Beauchemin played well in the goal.

Tremendous Tigers 3, Tigers 0 – Philip Healy, Kaj Djonne and Robert Linden scored the goals and great support from Conor Murphy and Nicholas Nelson led the Tremendous Tigers to the win. Tim Pritchett and Vavek Telda played well for the Tigers in goal and Tim Moore and Dan Hamula played well overall.

Girls U8

Funky Monkeys 3, Huskies 2 – Kerry Scallon, Emma Sullivan, and Hayley Dunn scored to power the Funky Monkeys past the Huskies. Kelsey Muniz played a great all around. For the Huskies, Tess Murray scored two goals, Kirsten Yapp played Well on offense, and Sarah Craig was tremendous in goal.

Cheetah Champions 3, Huskies 1 – Lindsey Jagoe scored twice on assists by Abigail Kuligowski and Karlie Kuligowski scored on an assist by Cassie Fischer and Anneliese Thomas to lead the Cheetahs to the win. Tess Murrary scored for the Huskies as Aspen Kraushaar played well offensively and Aileen Shelock had a fine field game.

Shooting Stars 6, Panthers 2 – Meg Korchman scored three goals and Kailee Dunnigan added a pair to lead the Stars to the win. Brooke Newtown also scored while Emma Champagne played well all-around. For the Panthers, Sophie Johnson and Siena Cicarelli scored as Danielle Agugliaro and Nicole Mendonca played well.

Girls U10

Mighty Tigers 2, Blaze 1 – Mallory Reilly scored both goals for the Tigers in the win. Abby Hungaski and Caroline Kingsley had good overall games, and Shannon O’Gorman was solid on defense. For the Blaze, Justina Paproski scored the goal as Olivia Rawley had a fine game in goal and Margo Trainer played well on defense.

Metrostars 1, Jawbreakers 0 – Emma Iannini scored on an assist from Michaela Beaudry and Ashley Beckett to lead the ‘Stars to the win. Ally Brazo and Randi Jackson were phenomenal on the field. For the ‘Breakers, Alyse Brautigam and Alexandra Duris were great in goal and Katie Burns and Rebecca Silveira were very strong on offense.

Fireballs 5, Fire Feet 0 – Hannah Maret scored four goals to power the Fireballs to the win. Lauren Sarna added a goal as Brittany Heck and Jaclyn Daily played a strong game. For the Feet, Daniella Genovese and Julie LaPerch played very well and Nina Pedalino was tough on defense.

Boys U10

Mud Monkeys 2, All Stars 0 – Gavin Scallon scored two goals to lead the Monkeys to the win. Logan Puleri and Ricky Fuentes were active in the midfield and Luke Piazza anchored the D. For the Stars, Nicky Shannon was solid on offense, Peter Ovendorf played well at midfield, and Taite Mansfield and goaltender Jacob Moore were outstanding on defense.

Eagles 2, Pink Muffins 0 – David Tortora, Nathan Norwich, and Chase Hutchinson played well on defense and Sam Pliszka played well on offense to lead the Eagles to the win. For the Muffins, Evan Swain and Dieter Gutbrod led the offense while Will Carr and Patrick Haggerty played solid defense.

Blue Dragons 10, Wolverines 4 – Steve Jarvis scored four times while Colin Moller and Eric Samuelson added two goals apiece to lead the Dragons. Daniel Olszewski and Drew Sullivan also scored. For the Wolverines, Joseph Vanveen scored a pair of goals while Patrick Mulano and Adam Oelberg scored one apiece. Ivan Hutchison played well.

Boys U14

Rather Beige 5, Blue Monkeys 3 – Eric Rardin scored five goals with multiple assists from Ian McEmber and Liam Ferguson to lead the Beige to the win. Dan O’Connor and Brian Wicki teamed up in goal. For the Blue Monkeys, Ryan Ames scored two goals as Vinny Brophy and Nathan Barrett were solid in goal. Nathaniel Burns and Stephen Forgione had strong games.

Rather Beige 1, Danbury 1 – Eric Rardin scored for the Rather Beige in the draw. Bryan Wicki and Dan O’Connor were outstanding in goal as Liam Ferguson, Timothy Dalton and Ian Hripak had great games on both sides of the ball.

Girls U14

Rapids 1, Pink Ladies 0 – Ashley Liefels scored the lone goal to lead the Rapids to the win. Lauren Pettinelli played an outstanding game, Elena Unschuld was solid in the midfield and Emma Whitley-Rodriguez shined on defense. For the Pink Ladies, Lauren Hutchison, Kyra Smith, Stephanie Jarvis, and Brooke Vazzano all had great games.
