Hair Salon Opens At Nunnawauk Meadows

Frank DeLucia, executive director at Nunnawauk Meadows, Newtown’s Housing for Senior Citizens, announced this week that Naser Behluli has opened a hair salon in the newly expanded Community Building.

Mr Behluli is the owner of Naser’s Salon of Health and Color Designs, which celebrated its first anniversary in December in its location near the flagpole on Main Street.

“Since Mr Behluli had offered his services on a volunteer basis during all of 2004 to residents of Nunnawauk who were unable to visit his salon in the center of town, we thought it only fitting and proper to give Mr Behluli first dibs on the new hair salon,” Mr DeLucia said.

All hair dressing services, such as haircuts for men and women, permanents, color, and design will be available to the residents. Mr DeLucia has equipped the salon with the customary salon workstation, sink, and hairdryer, and painted it a welcoming shade of azure blue. Curtains and a painting complete the cheerful décor.

Mr DeLucia also said that a physician’s office will be added to the services available at Nunnawauk Meadows and a third room, which became available through the renovation of the building, will become the new arts and crafts center.

Mr Behluli said that Ana Frangu has joined his salon and will be working with him on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. Ms Frangu is a graduate of the Connecticut Institute of Hair Design in Wolcott. She has worked at the Waterbury Mall, Shear Image in Newtown, and most recently spent one year working Chicago. She will be assisting Naser Behluli in his salon by the flagpole and will be at Nunnawauk every Monday.

Ms Frangu is available for all services, haircuts for men, women, and children, for permanent waves, color and highlights, as well as special hairdos for proms, weddings, and other gala occasions. In addition, she is qualified for facial waxing. For appointments or more information, call 364-1417.
