Beaula W. Morsey

Beaula W. Morsey, 88, well-known dog breeder and kennel owner, of Pembroke Road, Danbury, wife of the late Victor E. Morsey, died peacefully at her home on May 15.

She was born in Newtown, May 2, 1917, daughter of the late George E. and Elsie (Mosher) Wilson. She attended schools in Newtown and Danbury and had worked as a nurse’s aide at the Danbury Hospital in the 1950s and 1960s.

She was well-known as a dog breeder and owner of the Wilcroft Kennels in Danbury. She was a 4-H leader for many years and formed the first dog obedience training club for the 4-H Club. She had served as a past noble grand and drillmaster of the Echo Rebecca Lodge and was named the “Foster Mother of the Year” in 1955.

She is survived by five children: Arthur I. Morsey and wife, Nancy, of Lisle, N.Y.; Robert V. Morsey and partner, William Smith, Kathleen J. Beach and husband, William, of Danbury; George E. Morsey and wife, Kathie, of Lisle, N.Y.; and James A. Morsey and former wife, Christina, of Marathon, N.Y.; a brother, Walter Wilson, and sister, Viola Vogel, both of Florida; a sister-in-law, Catherine Wilson of Danbury; special friends, Paul Gassner and Duggie Stump, ten grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson and several nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by a grandson, William R. Beach, II, two brothers, Arthur and Russell Wilson, and two sisters, Ethel Morsey and Myrtle Knapp.

Funeral services will be held at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main Street, Danbury, Friday, May 20, at 11 am. Burial will be in Newtown Village Cemetery. Calling hours were scheduled Thursday from 6 to 8 pm and Friday from 10 to 11 am.
