To the Editor:

To the Person who Shot and Killed Bobbie the Bear — this was a despicable act for which you should be ashamed.

If the bear was a nuisance, there were options you could have taken. Sadly, you reached for your gun instead.

It distresses me to know that for some, it is easy to take a life.

This was a living, breathing creature who had as much right to be here as we do, a mother with cubs dependent upon her.

I hope there will be consequences for your actions. Tragically, no penalty will bring her back or ensure her cubs survival.
