Meet The EMS Professionals
By Dr Robert S. Grossman
To The Editor:
May 15-21, 2016 is National Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Week in honor of the dedicated EMS professionals who service our community every day. To celebrate, the Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps will be hosting an Open House for the community on Saturday, May 21, from 9 am to 2 pm, at their headquarters located at 6 Washington Square, Fairfield Hills Campus (across from Reed Intermediate School), Newtown. Admission is free.
Newtown's AEMTs and EMTs help save lives by responding to medical emergencies, including heart attack, difficulty breathing, a fall or accident, stroke, drug overdose, or acute illness. They provide basic and advanced medical care at the scene of an emergency and en route to a hospital.
Our Corps members are all volunteers. Please join me on May 21 to meet our AEMTs and EMTs that so willingly give of their time to help our community. Tours of the headquarters and ambulances will be given.
I look forward to seeing you there.
Sincerely,
Robert S. Grossman, MD
