DUI Incident
Police report they charged a Sandy Hook man with six violations on May 15, following a two-vehicle accident that occurred near 153 South Main Street.
Police received a call about 10:14 am, informing them of a motorist who was driving a silver Audi-brand vehicle erratically, striking a plastic crosswalk sign and then continuing onward in the Glover Avenue area, and also being unable to stay in the designated travel lane.
The Audi driver then was involved in a head-on collision near 153 South Main Street. After investigating, police charged motorist James Carney, 20, of Sandy Hook, with driving under the influence, evading responsibility, making a restricted turn, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and third-degree forgery.
The forgery charge stems from Carney having presented a fraudulent identification card.
The person driving the other vehicle involved in the accident was transported to Danbury Hospital for treatment of minor injuries, police said.
Carney posted $500 bail for a May 30 court appearance.

School Bus Accident
Police report a school bus accident at the turnaround circle for Boulder Creek Road, a side street extending from Taunton Hill Road, about 8:36 am on May 14.
George Krizan, 64, of Newtown, was driving a 2013 Bluebird school bus owned by All-Star Transportation, LLC, and was attempting to turn the bus around in the turnaround circle, when the rear passenger-side window of the bus struck some metal rods that were attached to racks on a parked, unoccupied 2005 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck.
There were no injuries. The children who were traveling on the bus were then transported to Head O' Meadow School either by another bus or by their parents. Krizan received a verbal warning for making an unsafe movement from a stopped position.

South Main Street
At about 9:17 am on May 13, motorist Jason Altobelli, 40, of Newtown, who was driving a 2007 Saturn Vue SUV on South Main Street, near its intersection with Country Club Road, struck the rear end of a 2012 Acura TL sedan driven by Michael Ciaffone, 30, of Newburg, N.Y., police said. There were no injuries.
Police issued Altobelli violations for following too closely and for driving while under suspension.

Main Street DUI
Police report they received a call about 9 pm on May 13, informing them that a motorist was driving erratically eastward on Mt Pleasant Road and heading toward Main Street.
Police said that while traveling northward on Main Street, they spotted the vehicle in question near 79 Main Street, and then turned around to catch up with the southbound 1992 Toyota 4-Runner SUV. As police activated their emergency lights to stop the Toyota's driver, the Toyota drove onto the southbound road shoulder and struck an unoccupied 2017 Subaru Crosstrek SUV, which was parked near 51 Main Street.
Both the Toyota and Subaru were heavily damaged in the crash. Toyota driver Anibal Lopez-Perez, 36, of Bridgeport, reported no injuries. After investigating, police charged him with driving under the influence and with failure to drive in the proper lane. Lopez-Perez was released on $200 bail for a May 24 court appearance.

Burglary Arrest
After learning that police held a warrant for his arrest, Alex Cardenas-Tacuri, 21, of Danbury, went to the police station on the afternoon of May 10 and was charged with third-degree burglary, sixth-degree larceny, and third-degree criminal trespassing, police said.
On March 4, police received a call informing them that a vehicle parked near a residence on Pocono Road had been entered and items were stolen from within. The residence has a video surveillance system that recorded the incident. Based on evidence gained in their investigation, police sought and obtained an arrest warrant.
Following arrest processing on May 10, police released Cardenas-Tacuri on a written promise to appear in court on May 24.

Warrant
Police report that on May 9, they went to the local residence of Earl Feistel, 60, and arrested him on a warrant, charging him with second-degree failure to appear in court.
On March 19, motorist Feistel had been stopped and charged with three offenses - driving with a suspended license, driving an unregistered vehicle, and failure to have automotive insurance.
Feistel failed to show up on April 24 at a scheduled appearance in Connecticut Superior Court in Danbury.
After processing on May 9, police released Feistel on $500 bail for a May 23 court appearance.

Larceny Charge
On the morning of May 9, police arrested Tanisha Nicole Laurel-Moorer, 38, of Danbury, on a warrant, charging her with sixth-degree larceny. That crime involves the theft of items worth less than $500.
After receiving a complaint on March 13, police started an investigation into the incident, which occurred at a business on Mt Pleasant Road in Hawleyville. After collecting evidence, police submitted an application for an arrest warrant, which they later received from Connecticut Superior Court in Danbury.
After she posted $500 bail on May 9, police released Laurel-Moorer for a court arraignment on the charge on May 23.

Church Hill Road
Police report an accident involving two Nissan Rogue SUVs near 14 Church Hill Road about 5:18 pm on May 9.
In that incident, motorist Evan Brooks, 34, of Newtown, who was driving a 2010 Nissan Rogue westward on Church Hill Road, attempted to make a left turn to enter the driveway at 14 Church Hill Road, but the 2010 Rogue then struck a 2018 Rogue driven by Robert Juleson, 35, of Newtown.
Juleson reported pain, but refused medical attention at the scene. Police report they issued Brooks an infraction for making a restricted turn.

Scudder Road
Police report they received a call about 5:45 pm on May 9, informing them that an unknown vehicle, which had been traveling southwestward on Scudder Road, drove off the roadway and smashed into a curbside residential mailbox at 44 Scudder Road, after which the vehicle continued traveling. The property is on the southern corner of Scudder Road and Cobblestone Lane.
Walgreens Crash
At about 6:05 pm on May 9, during heavy traffic conditions, motorist Julie Mooney, 56, of Newtown, who was driving a 2012 Toyota RAV-4 SUV, was attempting to exit the parking lot at Walgreens Pharmacy at 49 South Main Street, as motorist Douglas Moore, 54, of Danbury, who was driving a 2014 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 2500 delivery van, was attempting to enter the parking lot, police said.
The Mercedes then struck the Toyota. There were no injuries. Police issued Moore an infraction for making an improper turn.

Berkshire Crash
About 9:52 pm on May 8, motorist Betsy Morales, 39, of Ansonia, who was driving a 2015 Toyota Camry sedan westward on Berkshire Road, west of its intersection with Pole Bridge, was attempting to make a left turn, when the Toyota was struck from behind by a westbound 2006 Pontiac Torrent SUV driven by Malamine Gaye, 30, of Hamden, police said.
There were no injuries. Police verbally warned Gaye for following too closely.

Unsafe Backing
Police report that at about 9:23 am on May 4, motorist Douglas Magazu, 49, of Newtown drove a 2014 Chevrolet Tahoe SUV southward on Walnut Tree Hill Road and then stopped at a stop sign at that street's intersection with Church Hill Road.
The Chevrolet then pulled into the intersection, after which the Chevrolet backed up and struck a 2010 Honda CR-V SUV driven by Camille Johnson, 17, of Sandy Hook. There were no injuries. Police verbally warned Magazu for unsafe backing.

At about 8 pm on May 13, motorist Patrick Lennon, 19, of Plainville, who was driving a 2008 Chevrolet Trailblazer SUV westward on Berkshire Road, was negotiating a sharp curve to the right near Old Mill Road, but did not make the curve and then traveled straight, going off the left side of the street, police said. The Chevrolet hit a traffic sign, crossed Old Mill Road, struck a stone wall topped by wooden fencing, and then hit several small trees. The vehicle came to rest up against the wall, after which Lennon exited through the Chevrolet's passenger-side door. Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps and the regional paramadeic responded, but Lennon refused medical attention. Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire andamp; Rescue Company members also responded. Sandy Hook Fire Police created alternating traffic flow through the area and closed the street to traffic for a short time. Police charged Lennon with driving under the influence by a person under age 21 and traveling at a speed too fast for conditions. Lennon was released on $200 bail for a May 24 court appearance.
