Family Counseling Center To Hold Workshop On Bullies

The Family Counseling Center is scheduled to present a workshop entitled “Dissolving the Bully/Victim Connection” on May 24 at the CH Booth Library, in order to help parents, teachers, and other educational professionals learn how to deal with bullying.

The workshop will run from 7 to 8:30 pm in the library’s community room. The presenter is Amy Singer, LCSW. Ms Singer has over 20 years of experience as a parent and child advocate, school social worker, and as a clinician for children  with severe emotional and behavioral problems.

The workshop is offered as a free public service by the Family Counseling Center, a non-profit mental health agency serving the Greater Danbury and Southbury area.

Bullying is one of the most common and enduring problems in schools today. The effects of bullying last a lifetime and cause misery for the bully’s victims and leaves lasting impressions on those who witness repeated bullying incidents. According to one study, 60 percent of identified bullies have a criminal conviction by the age of 24.
