Robert J. Germain, Jr

Robert Joseph Germain, Jr, 66, of Harwinton, died on May 13 at his home. He was the husband of Marjorie (Fitts) Germain.

Mr Germain was born on July 31, 1936, in Bridgeport, son of the late Robert J. and Marion (Dunn) Germain, Sr.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Daniel R. Germain of Newtown, Paul Harrison of Washington, D.C., and Gregory Germain of Otis, Mass.; four daughters, Jetta Mary Germain of Naugatuck, Kate Barnard of Monroe, Jana Harrison of Scarsdale, N.Y., and Shawna Cohl of Durham, N.C.; and 12 grandchildren.

Born and raised in Bridgeport, he was a graduate of Bullard Havens Regional Vocational Technical School. After high school he went into printing and was a journeyman printer in the Bridgeport area and was an active member of ITU. For 12 years, with his wife, they were foster parents with Casey Family Services in Bridgeport. He was a communicant of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, and was a member of the Social Concerns Committee.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 16, at 10 am, at St Anthony of Padua Church, South Street, Litchfield. Burial will be in West Cemetery, Harwinton. Calling hours were scheduled Thursday, May 15, from 6 to 8 pm, at the Rowe Funeral Home, 283 Torrington Road (Route 202), Litchfield.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice at Home, VNS of Connecticut, 62 Commercial Boulevard, Torrington, CT 06790, or to the St Francis Cancer Center at St Francis Hospital, 114 Woodland Street, Hartford, CT 06105.
