Police Seek Owners Of Found Items

The police station serves as the town’s lost-and-found agency, where such goods are kept for safekeeping until they are claimed by their owners. Police eventually dispose of found items that remain unclaimed.

Currently, police are holding ten items for retrieval by their unknown owners.

Starting with the items that have been in police custody the longest, the found items are: a tool box, found at the intersection of Hawleyville Road and Obtuse Road last December 9, Case #9702-8244; an inflatable Santa Claus lawn ornament, which was found on Forest View Drive on January 5, Case #9703-107; and a set of keys to a Jeep-brand motor vehicle, which were found in an unspecified location on January 25, Case #9703-573.

Also, being held by police for safekeeping are: a gold wrist watch found on Elm Drive near Hawley Pond on January 25, Case #9703-583; a gold ring, found in the parking lot at the Big Y supermarket on Queen Street on February 1, Case #9703-721; a man’s wrist watch, found on a hiking trail between Alpine Circle and Sweetbriar Lane on March 28, Case #9703-2030; a child’s pair of eyeglasses with a blue frame, found on Currituck Road on April 12, Case #9703-2342; an Armitron-brand lady’s wrist watch, found at a shopping center on Queen Street on April 14, Case #9703-2392; and a set of keys with a small harmonica attached, found on Treadwell Park on April 19, Case #9703-2947.

The owners of the lost items may contact Patrol Sergeant Darlene Froehlich at the police station, 3 Main Street, telephone 426-5841, to identify and claim the items. Providing the case number of the item in question would expedite the item’s recovery.
