Jazz Party To Benefit Hospital Emergency Department

WATERBURY â Waterbury Hospital will host a âHale To Jazzâ Party at the Hale Street House on Saturday, May 24, featuring the musical talents of Don Braden, to benefit the hospitalâs Emergency Department.

The event will begin at 6 pm. A limited number of tickets are available for the event at $75 each, or $100 for a sponsorship mention in the event program. In addition to outstanding music, there will be fine cuisine, fine wine, and a live auction. To reserve tickets, call the Hospitalâs Fund Development Office at 203-573-6083.

Don Braden will perform with The Don Braden Ensemble. Mr Braden, well known in this area for his work as musical director of the Litchfield Summer Jazz Festival Music School, is a tenor and soprano saxophonist, flutist, composer, clinician and High Note recording artist.

Prizes available during the live auction include dinner for four at Blue Ribbon Sushi in Brooklyn with limousine service and a pair of âBest Friends of the Jazz Festivalâ tickets donated by Litchfield Performing Arts.

Some facts to consider. A total of 40,00 trips a day take place on Rt 25, The Castle Hill project will add less than 1%. Cluster homes are already an approved concept for the Borough, because it preserves open land and builds homes with sewer and public water. I'm Suggesting the Zoning Board should approve this because its a proposal that meets conservation goals and "checks" all the boxes.

How do you propose tapping the brakes, Dave? 8-30g already trumps any local regulations- you don't have a brake pedal to push. Brookfield, Trumbull and now Ridgefield have a clear case for a moratorium based on the development (thanks to 8-30g) that has already occurred. I don't see a clear case for Newtown to request a moratorium... yet.

Nobody is suggesting shutting the doors on new neighbors. What neighboring towns are doing, and what we should be doing too, is to tap the brakes on all of the multi-family residential development proposals so that we can spend 6 months updating our regulations such that if you want to build dense residential housing here, XX percent of it needs to be affordable (we will never make any headway on increasing our percentage of affordable housing otherwise, short of 8-30g), and the rest needs to be done in as low an impact manner as possible. Low impact on traffic, health & safety, the environment and on the cost of town services.
