Ina C. Iwertz
Ina C. Iwertz, 99, a longtime resident of Newtown, died on May 7 at the Geer Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in North Canaan. She was the widow of Carl E. Iwertz.
A native of Halsingborg, Sweden, she came to the United States in 1918 and was a member of the VASA Order, a Swedish/American social organization, for 79 years. In addition, she provided volunteer nursing assistance during World War II and was, for many years, a Red Cross volunteer. She was also active in the Sandy Hook and Newtown Senior Citizens Center activities.
Mrs Iwertz is survived by her brother, Gunnar Lindstrom of Sandy Hook; and her daughter, Ann E. LaRosa of North Canaan; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by a son, Carl Iwertz, Jr.
Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. The Torrant-Kenny Funeral Home, 39 Maple Avenue, Norfolk, has care of the arrangements.
