EMT Course Begins May 24
EMT Course Begins May 24
Newtown Volunteer Ambulance announced this week that the summer Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) course is scheduled to begin on Saturday, May 24, at the ambulance garage on Main Street.
Classes are scheduled for Monday and Thursday from 6 to 10 pm and three Saturday daytime classes through August. This 130-hour course is informative and fun.
Newtownâs population is growing rapidly so the ambulance corps must continually recruit volunteer members for the increasing workload. Daytime volunteers are especially needed.
âYou donât need to have any medical training to take the course and you will find that all ambulance calls are not bloody and scary as many people believe,â said Deb Aubin, ambulance corps member who is coordinating the EMT class.Â
âHelp us keep Newtown Ambulance a volunteer service,â she said.
Anyone who is interested in joining the corps or just in taking the EMT course should call Deb Aubin at 426-6874.
Anyone interested in taking Professional Rescuer CPR also may sign up for the class on May 24.
