Concert Was A Success
To the Editor:
The Newtown Choral Society played to a packed house on May 10 at The Meeting House as it presented its spring concert, Broadway Tonight!
We would not have enjoyed such success without the help of many people. Most importantly, the members thank our director Mary Andreotta for her exquisite work and talent and her continuing ability to challenge us to new heights with every concert.
We thank Sherry Paisley and the board of The Meeting House for preserving such a music friendly venue and for their recent purchase of a concert grand piano. We were pleased to have many of the members of the board at the concert.
Phil Crevier, our accompanist, played a big part in our success. Not only did he lend his musical talent, but, through his site, choraltutor.com, he enabled us to access rehearsal tapes through the internet.
Shannon Hicks of The Newtown Bee has been a big part of our ability to attract new members as well as fill The Meeting House with as large an audience as we did. We thank David Jurman for his many efforts on the choirâs behalf and Jonathan Pope of the Middle School for his ongoing support of the choir. Thanks also go to the office and custodial staff of the Middle School.
We thank John McMahon and his brother Jim for their invaluable help as well as Alan and Michael Corbeil for taking on, once again, the task of taking tickets. We would like to thank the Cartoun family for their continued support.
Finally, we must thank my husband, Kenneth. Kenneth lent his computer expertise to our posters, tickets, direct mail campaign and program, proving one does not have to be musical to bring music to others.
The Newtown Choral Society, which is completing its 17th year, will begin rehearsals for its winter concert in September. We welcome new members and require only that members have a love of singing and be willing to learn. Call me at 426-3769 if you would like to discuss joining the Newtown Choral
