One Special ‘Catechism’ At Seven Angels

WATERBURY — Late Nite Catechism, the raucous, rollicking international and off-Broadway hit, will be at Seven Angels Theatre for one night only: Saturday, June 17, at 8 pm.

Late Nite Catechism is interactive theater that makes the audience part of the hilarity and action. “Sister,” as portrayed and written by Maripat Donovan, brings the audience members back to the days of catechism class, where chewing gum leads to a quick scolding and slouching in your seat brings on a litany of instructions to assume the correct posture.

The New York Times raved Late Nite Catechism is “vastly appealing, uproarious and speaks to an audience much broader than the membership of any one church.”

In the unique piece of theater, Ms Donovan alternately addresses, placates, bullies and adores her audience with relish. The wild swings of mood, absurdity and instruction bring every audience member on a ride that makes everyone almost nostalgic for parochial school.

Tickets are $27.50. Call the box office at 203/757-4676 for more information. Seven Angels Theatre is in the Hamilton Park Pavilion on Plank Road, just off I-84, in Waterbury. Parking is free.
