Timothy Bradley
Timothy William Bradley, of Canton, passed away at Regional Hospice and Palliative Care in Danbury on May 14, 2019, after a year-long battle with cancer. He was born on April 22, 1947, in his childhood home, to the late LeRoy William and Claribel (Oles) Bradley. He lived in Canton his entire life, but during his last few months, he lived in Sandy Hook with his niece and her husband, Suzanne and Bob Davenport.
Tim grew up in a simpler time; he did not have much, but he was not wanting for anything. He carried that principle throughout his life. He was a quiet, caring, unassuming, friendly, and thoughtfully gentle man. He had no children and was never married. Tim enjoyed a simple life. He enjoyed his time alone but also cherished his time with his dear friends and family.
In 1968, he was drafted into military service. Tim was a veteran of the Vietnam War — attaining the rank of Specialist in the Army, in Troop L, 11th Armed Cavalry. He served with distinction and honor. In his one tour of duty, he was decorated by two Purple Hearts, the Army Commendation Medal for Meritorious Service, and the Vietnam Service Medal (with three Bronze Service Stars).
After retiring as a machinist, he enjoyed walking the Farmington River Trails, listening to the radio, spending time fixing machines, and fishing and spending time in Maine with friends and family.
He was one of four siblings and was predeceased by his sister, Connie Leach, and his brother, Charlie. He is survived by his brother, Bob, of Anaheim, Calif., and his niece, Suzanne Davenport, and her husband, Bob, of Sandy Hook. He is also predeceased by his nephew, William LeRoy Tullock-Baker.
Friends may call at the Vincent Funeral Home, 120 Albany Turnpike, Canton, on Tuesday, May 21, from 10 am to noon. Tim’s wish was to be cremated and his ashes scattered in the places he loved so that he would be blowing in the wind.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Tim’s favorite radio station, WWMM, PO Box 175, Collinsville CT 06022; or to Regional Hospice and Palliative Care, 30 Milestone Road, Danbury CT 06810.
