To the Editor:

Toastmasters provided a number of rewarding experiences for me. In personal and professional occasions I have been asked to speak to groups and lead others who turned to me for guidance and direction. The value of the self-confidence gained from being a member of this organization has been matched by the many friendships I have made, the sheer fun of programs and the development I have witnessed in others. These are some of the reasons that have kept me coming back.

Our town is fortunate to have gained the support of the Toastmasters organization to launch a public chapter here in Newtown that will meet in the evening. An upcoming demonstration meeting will be an opportunity for residents to learn and decide if this program can give them the resources to become more powerful communicators and leaders. As a volunteer based, nonprofit organization, Newtown Toastmasters provides a safe, friendly environment for people to try new things and unlock their hidden potential. This is a great opportunity for our community.
