African Safari Program At Next Flagpole Photographers Meeting
Tom Cuchara, past president of New Haven Camera Club and very active in many local, national and international photography organizations, will present a program on âAn African Safariâ at the Flagpole Photographers meeting on Thursday, May 21, at 7:30 pm. The group meets in the lower meeting room of C. H. Booth Library, 25 Main Street in Newtown.
Mr Cuchara will also be one of the three judges for the clubâs monthly competition which will be on waterfalls. Club members may enter two additional competition categories: open and digitally enhanced which also must be a waterfall.
Mr Cuchara has been a speaker at various local photography clubs and at regional PSA (Photography Society of America) and NECCC (New England Camera Club Council) meetings, and his photographs have appeared in Adirondack Life, Wild Bird, Birderâs World, in calendars, and on the cover of the Wolf Conservation Calendar.
Tom and his wife Lisa have also been photographing weddings, parties and portraits semi-professionally for over 13 years; they currently have a portrait studio BREA Photos (.BREAphotos.blogspot.com) located in Hamden.
The Cucharas credit their shared passion of photography for bringing them together (they met at a camera club). They are zealous about photography, both behind the lens and in the âdigital darkoomâ with their Wacom pen in Photoshop, recognizing these as tools in helping realize their photographic vision.
They love to photograph nature, but find capturing the essence of people equally intriguing. They love stalking that elusive photograph in the field and admit to (mentally) âclicking the shutterâ even when their cameras are not with them. From moose to birds, flowers to landscapes and brides to babies, they appreciate the world around them and embrace the challenge of interpreting what their eyes see and their heart feel via the camera lens.
Tom and Lisa Cuchara have been generous contributors to the Flagpole Photographers over the years, presenting programs and judging competitions.
The public is invited to attend any of the clubâs meetings, free of charge. Additional information about the club can be found at FlagpolePhotographers.com or from club president Rui Desousa (364-1441).
