Occupation: I’m a Parks and Rec maintainer for the Town of Newtown. I’ve been with the town going on ten years, first with the Highway Department, then with Parks and Recreation.

Family: I have a brother, Tom, and his family who live in town. But I live alone in Sandy Hook.

How long have you lived in Newtown? All of my life. I was born at St Vincent’s Hospital in Bridgeport, but I’ve always lived in Newtown.

What do you like to do in your free time? I’m with the Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire Department. I like to relax, clean my vehicles, that sort of thing. I like to read magazines and newspapers — I wait for The Bee each week.

Do you have a favorite sports team? I follow the Rangers in hockey and the Miami Dolphins in football. I’m a NASCAR fan. I like Denny Hamlin as a driver.

Do you have a favorite travel destination? My girlfriend and I go to the Cape, and I go down to Bristol, Tenn., to see my parents. I like visiting them, and it’s near the Bristol Motors Speedway.

What is the best thing about Newtown? The hometown spirit. It’s definitely a place to raise a family, and I like knowing a lot of people in town.

What is the biggest change you have seen in town? The traffic! I grew up on Route 34, and the changes in traffic there are huge. The congestion is a big problem. And the increase in housing developments over the years.

If you could travel to the past or future, which would you choose? I would pick the past. I think the pace was a lot slower — and I like the older cars.

Do you have a hero? Definitely, my parents, John and Joyce. My father had a business and he taught us to work hard to succeed. And my mom is one strong person.

Do you have a personal philosophy? You can change a house but not its foundation. People may change to a point, but you can’t change them all the way.

What is the silliest or most dangerous thing you have done? Actually, I’m kind of accident prone, so there are a lot of things I could say. Probably having vertigo and falling off a machine is one of the top ones. I broke my arm and smashed my face. There have been a lot.
