To Shop For Art
WOODBURY â Clapp & Tuttle Inc. has installed a new, state-of-art DVD-ROM system that will allow customers to choose from more than 38,000 pieces of art in a single sitting.
The DVD-ROM system projects the images of artwork on a computer monitor. Customers can now see more art in ten minutes with this system than they could see in years of shopping from gallery to gallery.
At an average gallery, depending on the amount of wall space available, visitors can typically view 40 images at one time. Now a customer can choose from all types of art, by hundreds of artists, in all price ranges, including original oil paintings, limited edition prints, posters and photography.
The customer may look at art by artist and title, or by subject and color. If a customer does not know what type of art he or she likes, they can be shown an educational selection of samples of the different styles in order to help determine what type of art might appeal to that individual.
Clapp & Tuttle Inc. says this system is on the cutting edge of technology. Gallery co-owner Randy Tuttle predicts it will change the way people shop for art. Any artwork selected can be special ordered and it will be available within a few days.
Clapp & Tuttle Inc. is now an authorized dealer of Art Information Inc., a nationwide art dealer association that has more than 38,000 limited edition prints listed for sale. The gallery is at 742 Main Street South/Route 6 in Woodbury. The gallery is open Tuesday to Friday, 9:30 am to 5:30 pm; Saturday, 9:30 am to 5 pm; Sunday, noon to 4 pm; and Monday by appointment.
