Vincent A. Socci

Was US Army Veteran

Vincent A. Socci, 70, a lifetime New Canaan resident, died May 9, at home, with his loving family by his side. Born in Norwalk, July 18, 1939, he was the son of Joseph and Matilda Sillo Socci.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Susan Candini Socci; three children, including his son, Lewis P. Socci and his wife, Sally, of Sandy Hook; two sisters; and eight grandchildren.

Mr Socci was a US Army veteran and a graduate of New Canaan High School, Class of 1958. In 1996 he received a bachelor of science in management from California Coast University.

He was a restaurateur for 35 years, owning and operating Mattie’s, Rigolettos, and Vinnie’s Café. Mr Socci was the food service manager at the New Canaan Inn and Cherry Street East.

 He actively participated in both state and local politics. Mr Socci was a loyal member to many of the New Canaan service clubs as well as the New Canaan Fire Department.

Friends may call at the Hoyt Funeral Home, 199 Main Street, New Canaan, Friday, May 14, from 3 to 8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, May 15, at 10 am, at St Aloysius Church, Cherry Street, New Canaan. Interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery. A reception will follow at The Columbus Center, 43 Vitti Street, New Canaan.
