Spring Blooms On View At Koenig FrameWorks
Spring Blooms On View At Koenig FrameWorks
Koenig FrameWorks received more than 100 entries when it recently hosted a competition for its Spring Photography Show. âBlooms,â the resulting collection of photographic works by regional artists, is now on view at the framing shop and gallery. The collection will remain on view until May 29.
Submissions were to be of any flowering plants, trees, shrubs, etc in bloom. There were no restrictions as to setting/location or time of year. The photographers were encouraged to be creative.
As a result, at least five wall spaces have been filled with brilliant prints depicting close-up and full shots of flowers, vases of flowers, a single daisy blooming in front of a wood bench, a horse sniffing at a flower, and even a colorful cowboy boot with a Gerbera daisy and hibiscus peeking from its top are among the entries.
The competition for âBloomsâ was open to all photographers age 18 and older. Black and white, and color, in film and digital, were all accepted.
Photographers were to submit their photos without matting or frames, and Koenig has provided cream colored matting for all entries, providing a consistent presentation.
All photographs included in âBloomsâ are available for purchase.
On Friday, April 30, an opening reception and awards celebration was hosted by the gallery. First Place, The Koenig FrameWorks Award, was presented to Judith Secco for her photograph âMagnolias.â Additional prizes were as follows: second place, The Theresa F. DiNapoli Award, to Jean Kavanek for âDaffoilsâ; and third place, The Roberta E. Jones Award, to Jill Baimel, for âI Dream Of Tulips.â
In addition, there were four honorable mention awards presented: The Bank Of America Award went to Edward Siciliano for âMisty Tulip,â The Sal e Pepe Restaurant Award went to Kathy Marciante for âVintage Roses,â The Wolfman Productions Award went to Don Brooks for âIris,â and The Art Anderson Award went to Jonathan Gordon for âPetals â 3.â
Jurors were Brad Stanton and Carl Hebert.
âWe would like to thank all the photographers who submitted such creative, breathtaking images,â said Koenig Frameworks owner Casper Sabatino. âSixty-three individuals filled our gallery walls with color, black & white, sepia and hand colored photographs using both digital and traditional film creating the most impressive FrameWorks exhibit to date.
âA special thanks to our jurors, Brad Stanton and Carl Hebert, who had the most difficult task in choosing finalists in a sea of outstanding shots,â he continued. âWe appreciate the generosity of all those individuals and companies who contributed awards-without them, such awards would not be possible. A special note of thanks to Don Brooks for his special influence in encouraging all to participate in the show.
âWe also appreciate the generosity of the families of Theresa F. Di Napoli and Roberta E. Jones, Bank Of America, Wolfman Productions and Sal e Pepe Restaurant, without whom awards would not be possible.â
