Second Company Governorâs Horse Guardâs Judged Pleasure Ride, Open Trail Day Pushed To May 15
The Friends of the Second Company Governorâs Horse Guard Inc have rescheduled the Annual Judged Pleasure Ride on the Second Company Governorâs Horse Guard (2GHG) grounds at Fairfield Hills for Saturday, May 15.
The event was originally scheduled for May 8, but was postponed due to rain. Start times are from 9 am to noon. Donation is $35 on the day of the event.
Riders may simply come and enjoy the trails, or may be timed on a six-mile trail ride and awarded points for each obstacle successfully completed in the obstacle course. Ribbons will be awarded â two per team â for first through sixth places. The event is open to all horse owners.
Riders under the age of 18 must have a 2GHG release form signed by parent/ guardian.
All riders are asked to wear safety helmets and show proof of current Coggins and babies vaccinations.

The 2GHG has been serving the citizenry of Connecticut since 1808 and is one of the oldest Cavalry Units in continuous service in the United States. 2GHG troopers participate in ceremonial events including parades, funeral honor squads, gubernatorial inaugurals, presidential inaugural parades and other events at the order of either the governor or the adjutant general.
Members are also dedicated to preserving the history of the cavalry in the State of Connecticut.
