Middlebury Racquet Club Seeks Pilot Pen Family Classic Players
Middlebury â Middlebury Racquet Club announces the commencement of the 2010 Pilot Pen Family Classic Tennis Tournament, which encompasses parent/child teams for qualifying rounds at the club on May 21, beginning at 6 pm.
The tournament is open to both members and nonmembers, and the playoff evening promises to provide quality family time while having fun playing tennis. Participants will receive T-shirts and refreshments, and there will be a raffle for Pilot Pen box seats and other prizes.
âPlaying along with my son in the Family Classic Tournament has been an incredible experience for my son and me,â comments Lo-I Ruefenacht of Newtown, who has participated in the tournament which culminates to a championship at the Pilot Pen courts in New Haven. âWe are truly looking forward to playing again this year,â she adds. âWhen we moved to the area in 2002, I signed up Tyler and our daughter, Alyssa, to play at Middlebury Racquet Club. Before you knew it, I signed myself up for a tennis clinic and we have been members ever since.â Tyler was inspired by his late father to love the sport of tennis and is currently on the Newtown High School Tennis Team.
Teams will consist of Father/Child 14 and under and 12 and under, and Mother/Child 14 and under and 12 and under. Cost is $35 per team. On a date to be announced in June, there will be an 18 and under Parent/Child Division, as well as an 18 and older Parent/Child Division. Additionally, on June 4, beginning at 6 pm at the club, there will be a Husband/Wife Division.
