Contemporary Evening Prayer Service Planned

DANBURY — At 6 pm on Sunday, May 16, there will be a contemporary evening service at St James Episcopal Church.

The service will be held in the Youth Room at St James, and will feature contemporary worship music and some favorite traditional hymns. A scripture lesson will be followed by a bible study-style response. A potluck supper will follow.

According to organizers, the evening prayer sessions will serve to lift attendees spiritually through music and prayer for the week ahead.

“This is an excellent opportunity to come together for fellowship, meet new friends and neighbors, and listen to some uplifting music outside the context of formal worship services on Sunday mornings,” said Mark Arnold.

The first service of this type was held on May 2 and was a great success with more than 50 people in attendance. This is a new ministry at St James led by musicians and singers from the congregation.

St James’ Episcopal Church is at 25 West Street, immediately off Main Street. For more information, contact Mark Arnold at mark.arnold@SaintJamesDanbury.org or call the church office at 203-748-3561.
