Occupation: I got my bachelor of science degree in English and education from Western Connecticut State University and a master of arts in American Literature from Fairfield University.

I was an English teacher at Immaculate High School for ten years, and I was a stay-at-home mom for a while. Then I spent 11 years in the education department of the Federal Corrections Institute in Danbury doing testing administration. Four and a half years ago, I retired to start my own business with my husband called All Well and Good. It is in association with the Japanese business, Nikken Wellness Technology.

We introduce people to the concept of wellness technology and we invite them to our home to demonstrate how a house can be designed or renovated to reduce stress and promote personal health. Or we will come into a client’s home as consultants. We also offer nutritional advice, and we sell products such as air purification systems, dehumidifiers, and exercise products. Anyone that is interested in our business may call 744-6998.

How Long In Newtown: I’ve lived in Danbury for 35 years, but I have been coming to Newtown for the past three years as a member of Business Networking International-Newtown. It’s a group of about 20 people that meets weekly on Thursday mornings at 7 at My Place Restaurant on Queen Street. Our purpose is to help promote one another’s businesses.

Biggest Change You Have Seen In Town: I love all the recent changes on Queen Street. Those lovely old homes are being fixed up, but they still have that small town feel.

Family: My husband Denis is a retired 34-year career religious studies teacher. He now works with me in our business. We have six children that are all adults now. We both believe that when you retire, you need to work at something you really enjoy.

Hobbies: We like to travel and are active in our church at St Gregory’s The Great in Danbury. Denis is a part-time wedding photographer.

Pets: None. We had kids instead.

Favorite TV Show, Movie, Book: I love to read history, especially with a local slant. The John Adams biography was wonderful. If it’s not nailed down, I’ll read it. I love to watch West Wing on TV, and I thought the movie The Passion of the Christ was awesome.

Organizations: I am upcoming president of Business Networking International-Newtown.

Most Vivid Memory About Newtown: I think the Edmond Town Hall is an awesome building. We go there frequently for the movies, and I think the concept of having less expensive movies in town available to the community is wonderful. The Booth Library is beautiful. The librarians are so helpful and they go out of their way. I believe that with the aging of the population, libraries are going to be critical in our lives.

Favorite Vacation Spot: When the kids were between the ages of 5 and 17, we took them around the world camping. We had a van and tents and stayed in youth hostels. It was comfortable and affordable. People say how could you do that, but it’s a mindset. You just take off and go! My favorite place was the Australian outback, which is the interior of the continent where it’s not so settled.

Personal Philosophy: I’m a carpe diem sort of person. I try to make the most of every situation. G.K. Chesterton said it best: “An inconvenience is an experience when rightly considered.”
