To Nominate Rep Wasserman
The Republican Town Committee will conduct a caucus Wednesday, May 19, at 7 pm, at the Multipurpose Center, 14 Riverside Road, to nominate State Representative Julia Wasserman as candidate for the 106th Assembly District.
Julia Wasserman of Sandy Hook will seek an eighth term representing Newtownâs 106th Assembly District. This caucus will also endorse the registrar of voters and five justices of the peace.
Mrs Wassermanâs previous service to Newtown includes four terms on the Newtown Legislative Council and ten years on the Newtown Conservation Commission. She has led the successful efforts in Hartford to acquire the former Fairfield Hills Hospital property for the Town of Newtown from the state of Connecticut. She served for 13 years as state Department of Environmental Protection appointee to the Kingâs Mark Resource Conservation and Development Project, and six years on the Fairfield County Soil and Water Conservation District. Mrs Wasserman was a former director of health for the town of New Fairfield, and retired captain in the US Army (WAC).
A reception to honor Rep Wasserman for her service to Newtown will take place immediately preceding the caucus at 6:30 pm. All Newtown registered Republicans are invited to attend both the caucus and reception.
âWe want to honor Julia for her tireless dedication to our town, especially for acquiring many land parcels at Fairfield Hills,â said Carol Recht, Republican Town Committee chairman. âWe want her to continue the work she began 14 years ago.â
