Fresh Air Fund Needs Host Families

Each summer, many Newtown area families become Fresh Air families, as they open their hearts to New York City children through The Fresh Air Fund’s Friendly Town Program.

Since 1877, The Fresh Air Fund has provided free summer vacations to more than 1.7 million children from low-income neighborhoods in New York City. Host families in rural and suburban communities throughout 13 Northeastern states and Canada welcome inner-city children into their home for two weeks or more.

The Fresh Air Fund needs help this summer to continue its 127-year tradition of sharing the simple joys of small town life, like running barefoot through the grass, playing in a sprinkler, or catching butterflies. For two weeks, share your love by volunteering to become a summertime host to a New York City child.

To learn more about hosting a Fresh Air child this summer, contact Susan Dann at 790-1465, or call The Fresh Air Fund at 800-367-0003, or visit the fund’s website at www.freshair.org.
