David G. Kroha

David G. Kroha, 72, of Danbury, devoted and loving husband of Dorothy (Loya) Kroha, died unexpectedly on May 6.

He was born in Danbury on August 31, 1931, son of the late Francis and Anna Seaman Kroha.

Dave was a loving, devoted father, grandfather, and father-in-law who cherished his family. He will be sadly missed by his wife, Dorothy, of 48 years; his son Michael and wife Cathi with daughters, Paige, Victoria, and Veronica of Newtown; his son David Kroha and his wife Judy with their children, Kristin, David, and Adriana, of Cromwell; his son Ron and his life partner Kevin Rose of Atlanta, Ga.; his daughter Cynthia McArthur and her husband Joseph with their children, Duncan and Melissa of Danbury.

He is also survived by his sister, Thelma Emery of Ohio; brother, Francis B. Kroha of Kankakee, Ill.; sister, Helen Palmer of Connecticut; his brother, Vincent Kroha and wife Catherine of Danbury; his sister, Marie Plecity and husband John of Danbury; sister-in-law, Edith Kroha of Brewster, N.Y.; brother, Donald Kroha and wife Mary of Rhode Island; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Barbara and Joseph Dominakus of Brookfield; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Patricia and William Murphy of Danbury; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Nancy and Bernard Reidy of Newtown; as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, John Kroha of Brewster, N.Y.

David Kroha was a graduate of Danbury High School, Class of 1950, and star football and baseball player for the Danbury Hatters. He was a veteran of the US Marine Corps in the capacity of staff sergeant and served during the Korean War from 1950 to 1955.

He operated his own ceramic tile contracting business for more than 25 years and was head of maintenance for the Pope John Paul II Center for Health Care in Danbury until his retirement in 1997.

Dave loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a passionate golfer and an original member of the Richter Park Men’s Club where he became tournament director for the Senior Men’s Club Tournaments.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on May 10 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Cottage Street, in Danbury. Interment was at St Peter’s Cemetery, Danbury.
