Thunderfeet 6, Stallions 1 â Natalie Villa and Lauren Sippen scored two goals apiece to lead the âFeet to the win. Emily Snyder and Rebecca Caraffiello also scored. For the Stallions, Meaghan Brophy scored as June Repasi and Christine Collins played well in the midfield and Caitlin Kalbacher played well in the back.
The Stride 3, Hurricanes 0 â Megan McGowan scored twice, the second time off a nice cross from Nicole Vournazos, to lead The Stride to the win. Sam Lockhart added the third score, her first of the season. Marissa Hansen and Erin Nemeth played well. For the âCanes, Amanda Sweat and Chelsea Young were solid on defense as Nicole Grillo and Michelle Haitz played well on offense.
Boys E
Nucleus 3, Terminators 1 â John Imbimbo scored twice and Russel Morgan scored once to lead the Nucleus to the win. David Tottora played well on defense and Andrew Bonvini did great on offense. For the Terminators, Liam Ferguson scored as John Fellin played well on defense and Will Little did great in goal.
Kings 4, Blaze 1 â Goals by Thomas Murphy, Keegan Lombard, Connor Quinn, and Thomas Capozziello propelled the Kings to the win. Leading a strong effort by the Blaze were Andy Kelley (goal), Jimmy Russo (assist), Walker Mansfield (defense) and Andy Hsu (goalkeeping).
Tigersharks 2, Silver Hawks 2 â Matt Datin and Alex Neufeld scored the goals for the Tigersharks while Christian Gregoire had a brilliant game in goal, stopping 15 shots (including a penalty kick). For the Hawks, Brian Kruger, Brandon Body and Francis Afriyie were solid on offense as Chris Miller played well on defense.

Cheetahs 1, Nighthawks 0 â Meredith Bridges scored the lone goal to lead the Cheetahs to the win. Lauren Hutchison, Alison Bloom and Emily Kopcik also played well. For the Nighthawks, Emma Whitley-Rodriguez and Amanda Stanton had good games while Jennifer Smith and Danielle Genovese played well in goal.

Raging Rams 4, Rockets 1 â James Marusi and Thomas Giarrantano both scored goals to lead the Raging Rams. Sam Boland and Matthew Wood played well on defense. For the Rockets, Luca Weibel and Zach Pollock made some outstanding offensive plays in the forward position. Christian Barrett and Tim Eames had strong performances on defense.
Nighthawks 4, Thunderbolts 2 â Alex Roche scored three goals and Patrick Thornberg added another to lead the Nighthawks to the win. Will Carr and Justin Adsitt-Weiner played well. For the âBolts, Eric and Ryan Pisani scored the goals as Scott Smith and Frederick Dean had solid performances.
Lightning Bolts 4, Tornadoes 0 â Joe Davis scored three times and Connor Gallagher once to lead the Lightning to the win. Jasper Edwards and Jack Beal had outstanding games in defense. For the Tornados, Miguel Rodriguez had a great game in offense, Luke Mammen was very effective in defense and Nick Shannon had a good game.
Raptors 5, Wolverines 2 â Justin Corsello and Sean Elliott scored two goals apiece to power the Raptors to the win. Ricky Fuentes added a goal and Adam Hufziger played well. For the Wolverines, Samuel Pliska scored while Kieran Basu and Frankie Biancardi had solid games.
Dragons 3, Wolverines 1 âCharlie Poarch scored the goal, assisted by Tyler Roberts, to lead the Wolverines. Michael Alicea was solid in goal.
Metrostars 3, Dragons 2 â Michael Schartenberg scored two goals and Charlie Helgren added one to lead the Metrostars. Brandon Smith played great offensively while Josh Villa excelled on defense. For the Dragons, Drew Sullivan and Brandon Marks each scored a goal..
Roadrunners 4, White Lightning 2 â Stefan Dullinger scored three times and Christian Mather scored once to lead the Roadrunners. Michael Teixeira played strong on defense and Brendan Peterson had a strong game in the goal. Miles Dobbrow scored twice for the White Lightning. Jacob Moore had a dominant game up front while Brad Kretz played strong in the defense. Connor Roche played well both on offense and defense.

Huskies 4, Cheetahs 0 â Sarah Craig, Amy Martin, and Brittany Tolla scored the goals for the Huskies. Aspen Kraushaar was good on defense. For the Cheetahs, Amanda Crowell and Gabrielle DeBartolomeo played well on offense. Tressa Scott played well on defense, and Jillanna Ciammara played well in goal.
Shooting Stars 2, Shockers 1 â Sophie Johnson and Michelle Spanedda scored a goal each for the Shooting Stars. Sarah Reed and Erin Bernardi played well on defense. Bridget Power scored the goal for the Shockers while Taylor Brady played well on offense. Emily Papp and Nina Pedalino played good defense for the Shockers.
Thunder 5, Wildcats 2 â Jenny Indelicato scored two goals to lead the Thunder to the win. Kristiana Engler also scored two goals while Maria Biondi added one. Hali Turkovich played well. For the âCats, Allie Brazo scored twice while Paige Kroha played well in the goal.
Tornadoes 3, Wildcats 2 â Katie McManus scored two goals and Caroline Kingsley added a third to lead the Tornadoes. Rebecca Grant displayed great goaltending. For the Wildcats, Allie Brazo scored two goals while Madeline Fletcher had an outstanding game in goal. Mary Vodola played well on offense and Julia Diluoffo had a solid game on defense.
Wildcats 3, Nighthawks 1 â Allie Brazo, Alexa Powell, and Angela Halili all scored one goal apiece to lead the Wildcats. Paige Kroha had an excellent game in goal. Meghan Brophy scored the lone goal for the Nighthawks while Brook Newton and Nicole Mendonca played well on defense.
Killer Bees 3, Tornadoes 1 â Lindsey Jossick, Lauren Sarna, and Elisa Navarro led the Killer Bees offense with one goal apiece. Molly Arneth and Selena Henn played well. For The Tornadoes, Caroline Kingsley scored as Emily Grimes played fantastic offense. Jenn Hindes and Rachel Wiberg also had great games.
Nighthawks 1, Firebolts 0 â Brooke Newton scored the lone goal to lead the Nighthawks. Emily Peters was strong on defense, and Meaghan Brophy was a solid mid-fielder. For the âBolts, Anna Northrop paced the offense while Claire Miles played good defense. Sarah Rose Hasselberger did a good job as goalie.

East Bay (Rhode Island) 3, Power 1 â Virginia Trombini scored on a break away for the only Newtown goal.
Power 3, New Canaan 2 â Molly Mahony, Meghan Carney and Allie Fuentes scored for Newtown and Allie Korchman had an assist.
Farmington 6, Power 0 â Despite 15 minutes of scoreless play, Newtown eventually bowed to Farmington in the third game. Farmington beat all comers by five or more goals.
Glastonbury 1, Power 0 â On a windy, wet field, the Power fell. Kendall Svanda played well at goal. Leah Barrett, Christina Naldini and Kelley Gaston played strong defense.
Regular Season
Power 4, Brookfield 1 â Allie Korchman, Meghan Carney, Molly Mahony and Maddy Keane (PK) all scored to lead the Power to the win. Kelley Gaston and Mahony had assists.
Power 0, Southbury 0 â Leah Barrett and Christina Naldini played tough defense to lead the Power. Maddy Keane and Virginia Trombini controlled the center midfield. Kendall Svanda earned the shutout with sure goalkeeping.

Strikers 4, New Fairfield 1 â Kyle Moore, Eric Thornberg, Kyle Wildman and Patrick Fay scored to lead the Strikers to the win. Dan Hufziger had an assist. James Truckle and Tony Vacaro supported the team well in defense. Kai Aschick, Nick Wright and Aaron Nezvesky played well.
Girls U11
Stamford 3, Roadrunners 1 (Connecticut Cup) â Stamford scored two second-half goals to beat the Roadrunners in Connecticut Cup play. Shannon Paproski scored the lone Newtown goal. Great games were turned in by Kristin Stoller, Sarah Murtha and Alex Israel. Ali Pliszka, Jill Jagoe and Kelly OâConner had great games as stoppers.
Roadrunners 5, Southbury 0 â Shannon Paproski netted two goals after scores by Becca Castegner, Katie OâDell and Emma Kingsley to lead the Roadrunners to the win. Sarah Attanasio and Lauren Meyer had key assists. Casey Rutter made some great saves for her second shutout this season and the strong defense was led by Becca Jaroszewski, Kaitlin Brophy and KellyAnne Brophy.
Boys U12
Wallingford 2, Raptors 1 (Connecticut Cup) â Chris McCann scored the lone Newtown goal. Andy Lapple, Adam Buccino, Kyle Kromberg, Daniel Greenwood and Danny Clement played well.
Southbury 1, Raptors 0 â Xhulio Halili put in a strong performance in goal and stopped many shots, but Newtown fell. George Zaruba, Daniel Greenwood, Adam Buccino, Colin Jacob, Andy Lapple and Danny Clement performed strong offensively for Newtown.
Girls U14
Hurricanes 4, Woodbury 2 â Danielle Norris scored three goals to lead the Hurricanes to the win. Colleen Thornberg added a goal. Cassie David contributed three assists, including one off a bicycle kick. Mary Bloshuk had an assist. Molly Curry and Belle Hydock led the defense.
Hurricanes 2, Watertown 1 â Kelly Sullivan and Colleen Thornberg scored the goals that lifted the Hurricanes to the win. Cassie David and Haley Keane had assists. Jen Brewer, Cara Colacurcio, Katie Serock and Sara Shannon played well.
Navigators 4, Brookfield 1 â Katie Kirrane scored two goals while Jackie Kirol and Harriet Morgan scored one goal apiece to lead the Navigators to the win. Morgan had a pair of assists while Kirol had one. Eva Cerreta and Christie Attanasio had strong games and another first-rate performance by goalkeeper Katie Power secured this Gator victory.
Soccer Training
The Newtown Soccer Club will offer free soccer training to registered players in E, F and CD divisions. Clinics will be held every Monday (except Memorial Day and when fields are closed due to inclement weather). Clinics began on April 26 and will run through June 7, with June 14 being reserved as a make-up date.
Specific meeting times for each clinic are indicated below:
E and F â Brian Neumeyer will run clinics Mondays, 5 to 6:30 pm at the Newtown Middle School. All players must wear cleats, and shin guards. Players should also bring a soccer ball as well as a sports drink/water.
CD â Trainings are being led by MLS trainers and will follow right after school. The sessions will focus on game-like activities. All players must wear cleats, and shin guards. Players should also bring a soccer ball as well as a sports drink/water. Players in grades 7 and 8 will meet on Mondays from 2:10 to 3:40 pm at the Newtown Middle School. Players in grades 5 and 6 will meet on Mondays from 3 to 4:30 pm at Fairfield Hills.
