A Sweet Read

Middle Gate Elementary School recently celebrated its seventh annual Grandparents’ Night on Wednesday, April 28. from 7 to 8. The popular event was planned and organized by Robyn Cologna, library media specialist, with the help of several staff members and parent volunteers. Approximately 170 students and grandparents (or special guests) attended to share their love of books and some special reading time.

A large selection of literature and published student work were on display in the library and gym. After reading together in the library, students and their guests enjoyed milk and cookies in the cafeteria. “This is such a wonderful event because it brings together to two very important things, the love of reading and treasured time with loved ones.” Ms. Cologna noted. Students went home with a selection of cookies labeled with the message, “I read with someone sweet at Middle Gate’s Grandparents’ Night.”
