To the Editor:

On behalf of the board, staff and families of Merryhill Child Care Center in Newtown, located at 49 Queen Street, we wanted to send a heartfelt thank you to Ken Kinsman of Kinsman Construction for assisting us with renovations to our center in preparation for our upcoming 25th anniversary, open houses and public events.

Ken has worked evening and weekends on the building renovations to allow the center to operate without disruption to the families it serves. Ken has replaced flooring and carpeting, repainted, installed new cabinets and countertops and power washed and repaired the outside structures and ramps. New windows will be installed soon, as well.

The entire center is getting a well-deserved facelift, and we to publicly acknowledged Ken for his dedication, tireless efforts and expertise in staying within a very tight budget for this non-profit child care center. These renovations would not be possible without a loan recently secured from Newtown Savings Bank, who showed community support for our non-profit center and continues to support these efforts with a Newtown Savings Bank employee currently on the Board of Directors – Jennifer Blatchley. Please contact us at 203-426-9847 or merryhill49@hotmail.com if you would like more information or to set up a tour or visit us at one of the upcoming open houses: Thurday, 6/4 – 5-7:30 pm; Saturday, 6/13 – 9-11am; Saturday, 6/27 – 9-11am. Please come support us at our Fundraising Event on Saturday 6/6 @ NYA – 11am-3pm – Touch-a-Truck. We are raising money to pave our driveway, which was left in terrible shape after this harsh winter.
