The People Get The Last Word

To the Editor:

Where is the shared sacrifice? Increased spending at town or the state level shows those words are hollow. Our governor did not lead by example and take a pay cut. Neither did federal Congressmen or Senators or state elected officials.

Food items at the grocery store are up around 11 percent for just one year. Gasoline is still over $4.20 a gallon even though oil dropped $13 dollars per barrel. This is mostly due to Obama’s inflationary policies of deficit spending and a falling dollar that add to our already burdensome costs.

Higher town and state taxes from politicians who insist on increasing spending. Higher state taxes from a governor who is increasing spending two-thirds while only cutting one-third. All bull crap. Note: Absolutely nothing real was cut, because all of the supposed cuts are only to proposed budgets not current spending. Only the private sector gets beat up.

At the federal level President Obama is proposing a new transportation tax on miles driven by all vehicles. Is this intended to sink the remaining business still functioning.

These politicians are not getting the message that voters said No to new spending last November. Only by showing up and voting No on the budget again can we keep our town affordable.

Over the last four years, our town and state both increased spending about 12 percent. And the federal government deficit spending increased some $4.5 trillion during Obama’s first two and a half years. But most in the private sector saw no such pay increase to match government workers or to help pay our taxes on all of this increased spending. Additionally those on Social Security have had no increase in three years.

Thus, it is now time to insist that they share in the sacrifice, not just call for our sacrifice. Please continue to Vote No. Remind them it is “we the people” who have the last word.
