May 14 In Ansonia

DERBY — The 6th Annual Community Health and Safety Fair for All Ages will be conducted Saturday, May 14, from 10 am to 2 pm, at the Ansonia Armory, 5 North State Street. Sponsored by Griffin Hospital, the Valley Parish Nurse Program, Valley NAACP, the City of Ansonia, and CFGNH Neighborhood Small Grants, the free event will feature a variety of activities including stroke assessments (including cholesterol), blood pressure, diabetic, and osteoporosis screenings. Attendees may park in the Assumption Church School lot.

In addition to the health screenings for adults and children, health and safety activities include child bike helmets and bike rodeo, the CHIPS (Childhood Identification) program, car seat checks and installation, health, wellness and safety display booths and educational materials, and much more.

Attendees will have an opportunity to tour the Griffin Hospital Mobile Health Resource Van, which travels to businesses, schools, clubs, shopping centers, and other locations throughout the area. The van features books, magazines, pamphlets, Internet access, audio, and video, and other health education materials and is staffed by nurses who can answer a variety of health-related questions.
