Zoar Ridge Stables vs The Taunton Press: For Zoar Ridge Stables, Scarlett Long started off the team with a bang as she placed some key hits. Maddie Greenhaw exhibited a solid offensive foundation making contact at bat with confidence. Molly McCleary’s fielding was on fire revealing the teams’ cohesive teamwork. The Taunton Press played solidly in their 2nd game of the season. Leah Kerslake had a strong game at the plate. Ashley Hubner and Brenna Navin had strong defensive performances and made some great throws across the diamond. Shannon Kelleher had a great game in the field and at the plate.

Diamond Elecrical Supply vs Zoar Ridge Stables: Diamond Electrical Supply led off with a line drive single by Kiersten Banas followed by more impressive hitting by Amanda Colonel and Abigail McManus, loading up the bases. Hailey Avari’s single drove in two runs. Exceptional fielding skills were displayed by Olivia Bonacci as well as many amazing defensive plays led by Julia Calabrese and Aidan Herbstman. For Zoar Ridge Stables, the team demonstrated remarkable improvement. Tori Lewis had a spectacular game as a standout hitter. Riley Powers had an impressive performance both at bat and in the field, while Tessa Bigwarfe shined as she fielded a grounder that became an out at third base.

U8

Newtown Hardware 4, Associated Refuse 0: Newtown Hardware played its best game of the year with Julia Minchack, Juliette Cryder, Ally Hurley, and Julie Hess providing RBI singles. Carley Nuzzo played great defense while Kali Ryder and Virginia Hepp pitched well. For Associated Refuse, Emma Shanks had a good hit, Taylor McPadden and Shannon Jackman pitched well. Casey Sullivan played great defense at first base.

Carminuccio’s Pizza 7, Baum Orthodontics 4: Carminuccio’s offense was sparked by home run hitter Grace McEneaney and the hot bats of Sarah Savinelli, Vaughn Keeney, and Lauren Haynes. Ryssa Swanson and Emily Hammond kept the opponents in check with superb pitching performances. For Baum Orthodontics, a great effort was given in its first game of the season. Lydia Shugrue and Julia Gerace recorded defensive putouts, while Jenna Reilly and Alea Willis had key stops. Shugrue, Gerace, Willis and Reilly each had a hit and good at bats for the Baum Orthodontics squad.

Blueline Design 3, Extreme Fitness Martial Arts 3: Blueline Design’s Rose Wheway and Jaclyn Moccio showed tremendous efforts at the mound with Rose catching a fly ball and making a great play to first. Jaclyn made two outstanding stops and throws to first for two outs in the last inning. Rose had two hits and a run. Jaclyn had one hit. Danielle Otero and Casey McLean showed great catching skills behind the plate. Brianna Giglio as second baseman scooped up a grounder and made a smooth underhand toss to first for an out.

U10

Nuzzo Electric 7, Michael Scott Financial Group 0: Nuzzo Electric showed great teamwork between pitchers Allie Nuzzo and Julia Anderson and first baseman Zoe Beals who helped keep Michael Scott Financial Group from scoring. Allie had a base hit, while Anna Johnston and Zoe followed up with RBIs. Joy Metzger had a triple and a base hit by Laura LaFreniere brought her home. Savannah LaFerriere kicked off the third inning with a base hit and scored on Allie’s double. Zoe and Julia both had doubles with RBIs. Julia then scored the last run of the game after a base hit by Emma McGrath. For Michael Scott Financial Group, Tess Mubarek banged out two hits, while Abby Pereira had a single and a stolen base. Victoria Weimann also got a base hit in the defeat. Samantha Black and Sarah Brittin made a strong showing on the pitcher’s mound.

Wellbaskets.com 13, Peace, Love and Cupcakes 11: WellBaskets.com came out on top of a tight game vs Peace, Love and Cupcakes due to solid bats and excellent fielding. Sammie Strocchia, Tegan Doherty, Rylee Mulligan, Lexi Tucker, and Bella Luciano all had singles, while Joanna Vodola rocked the house with a triple. In the fourth inning, Lexi Tucker took off from right field into deep center to field a would-be home run by Peace, Love and Cupcakes. Just in time, shortstop Bella Luciano ran to the outfield to receive the throw from Tucker and proceeded to fire the ball straight into the glove of catcher Rylee Mulligan, who made the play at the plate. For Peace, Love and Cupcakes, Madison Fusaro, Cassidy Datin, and Katie Reilly led the offense. Madison singled and scored twice, Cassidy doubled, drove in two runs and scored twice, Katie had a single, triple, drove in three runs and scored three times. Samantha Cody had a very deep blast to center field and was just short of home run as Wellbaskets.com made a great play at home. Sophie Ackert and Alexa Horkachuck again pitched strong and the defense was led by Avery Tannebaum, Jillian Gibney, and Kaitlyn Pierce.

New England Bounce About 14, Claim Services International 11: New England Bounce About defeated Claim Services International on Saturday evening in a close game that was ultimately decided upon with a fine defensive play by Haley Ryan. Haley also had two hits and did an outstanding job behind the plate catching for Lauren Wilcox. Lauren had four hits in addition to pitching two innings. Emily Bell and Casey Muckell each had two hits and made a number of superb defensive plays. Shannon Lynch pitched one inning and had one hit. For Claim Services International, Sydney Flint and Ashley Gong performed well on the mound but needed help defensively against a hard-hitting lineup. Caitlyn Linden hit a bases-clearing double to right field scoring Jenna Carvalho, Cassidy Keller, and Sydney Flint. Ashley Gong hit a rope to right field off dominant pitcher Lauren Wilcox, and scored with aggressive base running. In the bottom of the fifth down 14-6, CSI began a comeback. Tina DeMaio and Ashley Gong reached base and scored on a base hit by Caitlyn Linden who then scored off a hit by Hanna Bigwarfe. With bases loaded and two outs, the NE Bounce About turned a routine grounder into the last out, dashing the comeback hopes for Claim Services International.
