Handmade Rugs & Furniture At Roxbury Library

ROXBURY — An exhibit of handmade rugs by Jane Doyle and handmade furniture by Charlie Jackson and Harry Ong is on view at Minor Memorial Library through Monday, May 16.

Jane Doyle has been a weaver for 30 years and her rag rugs are sold and exhibited in shops and galleries across the country.  By using the “Taquete” or “Summer and Winter on Opposites” technique she is able to weave beautiful durable rugs with inverse colors appearing on opposite sides.

Charlie Jackson and Harry Ong have been designing and creating fine wood furniture for many years. Combining “God’s beauty of the soul and the spirit of the tree” is the aim of Mr Ong’s artistic work. Mr Jackson is represented in the permanent collection of the New Britain Museum of American Art.

The library, at 23 South Street in Roxbury, is handicapped accessible. Call 860-350-2181 for information and directions.
