Gabby Nastri was recently elected as president of the Gabelli School of Business at Fordham University, at Fordham’s Rose Hill Campus, Bronx, N.Y.

Ann Ziluck was recently chosen as the 2011 Outstanding Undergraduate Student from the School of Science and Technology at American Public University. Ms Ziluck will be recognized during an event on June 17 in Maryland. She completed a degree in information technology with a concentration on web development, graduating with honors. Ms Ziluck has also started working toward her master’s in digital forensics.

The Center for Community Engagement at Eastern Connecticut State University held a Community Service Expo on April 14 to showcase the service programs and projects that students have been working on during the past academic year. Awards were given out in a variety of categories, and Kyle Droniak of Sandy Hook won the Broaden Horizons Award for service at Windham Middle School. Kyle is a psychology major at Eastern Connecticut State University.

Sandy Hook resident Erin McDonald, daughter of Rosemary and Patrick McDonald and a senior at King’s College, Wilkes-Barre, Penn., was recently inducted into Psi Chi, a national psychology honor society, and Delta Epsilon Sigma, a national scholastic honor society. The psychology honor societies accept only juniors or seniors, students in the top third of their class, at least a 3.4 grade point average (GPA) on a 4.0 scale, and a record of good behavior. The scholastic honor society is limited to students studying at a Catholic college or university and the student must also maintain at least a 3.5 grade point average after completing 50 percent of the required course work and credits pertaining to their major. Erin is double majoring in psychology and Spanish at King’s College.

Suzanne H. Campbell, PhD, WHNP-BC, associate dean for Academic Programs at Fairfield University’s School of Nursing and a Newtown resident, has been inducted into the Nursing Academy of the National Academies of Practice (NAP), an organization influential at the national level in projects promoting interdisciplinary health care.  Founded in 1981, NAP comprises distinguished practitioners and scholars from all of the primary health professions, including medicine, psychology, social work, and nursing. Dr Campbell has research interests in women’s health, lactation, and simulation pedagogy.

Erin Glaberson, daughter of Cindy and John Glaberson of Sandy Hook, has enrolled at Rochester Institute of Technology for the fall 2011 semester. Erin plans to major in industrial design at Rochester Institute’s College of Imaging Arts and Sciences following her expected graduation from Newtown High School in June.

Newtown students named as 2011 graduates at the University of Connecticut are Ellen Anne Binio, Joseph Thomas Bowen, Christopher Michael Cech, Wan-Ting Chiou, Robert DeFilippe, Jessica Jean Dugan, Michael Richard Frattaroli, Jocelyn Morgan Gaudett, Christopher Claude Gindraux, Neil Frank Goyal, Ashley Lynn Hart, Christie Helen Iwanicki, Laura Marie Konkos, Shayna Marliss Moliver, Michael Christopher Parrilla, Madeline E. Pearson, Sara Jane Peters, Christopher Walter Potter, Blayne Alan Sapelli, Christopher Ryan Tomascak, and Kristie Elizabeth Uniacke. Sandy Hook residents named as 2011 graduates at the university are Elaine Rose Bomely, Jessica Rose DiVanno, Michael Anthony Ferraro, Kevin Michael Gilroy, Jonathon E. Gureckis, Christopher Andrew Nuelle, Marek Paw, Lisa Marie Sapienza, Michael John Shannon, and Lauren Ashley DeFelice.

Kathryn M. Sullivan has earned a Juris Doctorate degree from Pace Law School, White Plains, N.Y. The commencement ceremony took place Sunday, May 8, at Pace Law School.
