David C. Stampfl, 56, of Southbury, beloved husband of Geraldine M. âSuzyâ Gillen, died unexpectedly May 5, at Waterbury Hospital. He was born August 13, 1954, a son of Dr Adolph J. and Patricia A. (Carlin) Stampfl.
Mr Stampfl, who was a 1979 graduate of the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, N.Y., was a Master Chef and was currently employed at the Newtown Country Club. A resident of Southbury the past seven years, he previously worked and lived in Key Largo, Fla.
In addition to being an excellent chef, Mr Stampfl was a âTechieâ and a rabid New York Yankees fan. He, and the food he cooked, will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his wife, Mr Stampfl is survived by his mother- and father-in-law; and four sisters-in-law, including Patty Gillen McQuail and Bernadette Addessi of Newtown; two sisters; three nieces; a great-niece and a great-nephew; and a brother-in-law.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated in St Rose of Lima Church, May 11. Interment will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association at www.americanheart.org.
Funeral arrangements were in care of the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown.
