A Vote For Our Future
A Vote For Our Future
To the Editor:
The ranking and quality of a school district is the first thing that people look at when they determine whether to move to a town or not. They are looking ahead, into the future. Sometime in the late 80s or early 90s, this town decided to grow. Decided to clear the woods and farms and build large neighborhoods, like the ones in Charter Ridge, Marlin Road, Equestrian Ridge, or Winton Farm Road. Obviously, those large homes and large pieces of property were built to attract a younger demographic to Newtown, a demographic which of course, would bring children as well. So now we have a lot of kids here who deserve and need a good quality education.
It seems like so many folks want to keep a foot in the past basing todayâs educational needs on what their experiences were âback in the day.â Its simply not reasonable. We all must keep our eyes looking forward, into the future and the future of all of our children. Iâd truly hate to see what will happen to both pieces of the budget (town and education) should the second referendum fail. Please get out there and support Newtown â vote on May 17!
