State Forester To Speak At NFA Annual Meeting
Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection Forester Gerard Milne will speak at Newtown Forest Associationâs annual meeting on Thursday, May 19, at 7 pm, in the Alexandria Room at Edmond Town Hall. The public is invited to join NFA members for the event.
Mr Milne, who cares for the Upper and Lower Paugussett Forests in Newtown, will discuss how the state of the forestsâ management plans and how the state inventories resident plant and animal species, administers public timber and public firewood cutting programs, and manages invasive species.
Mr Milneâs discussion will be full of practical information that area landowners can put to use in their own backyards.
Newtown Forest Association, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, is the oldest private land trust in Connecticut. NFA is dedicated to accumulating and preserving open space and natural resources in Newtown for the benefit of the community and all nature lovers. Currently, more than 1,000 acres are preserved through NFA stewardship, thanks to the support of membership dues and generous donors. NFA cooperates with but operates independently from the Town of Newtown and receives no funding from the Town.
