Senior Boys

Senior White 12, Pomperaug 0 – Cameron Gehrman scored four goals and Andrew Matsis made 10 saves in the cage to lead Newtown to the win. Jamie Bowers scored a pair of goals as Michael Mouchantat, Kurt Nacewicz, Connor McNamara, Kevin Brown, Kevin O’Connell and Andrew Golankiewicz scored one apiece. Dylan Huebner, Ben Collins and Golankiewicz combined for 16 ground balls.

Senior White 5, Cheshire Red 2 – Jamie Bowers had two goals and Ben Collins made an end-to-end run from his defense position to score a goal in the Newtown win. Andrew Matsis played a strong game in the goal, and Andrew Golankiewicz and Kevin O’Connell provided Newtown with midfield domination.

Senior White 13, Trumbull 1 – Jamie Bowers and Cameron Gehrman had three goals each as Newtown dominated Trumbull at Treadwell Park on Tuesday night. Connor McNamara scored twice as Zach Dent, Dylan Huebner, Andrew Golankiewicz, Tyler Reszoly and Mike Mouchantat all scored one apiece. Rocco Guaragno, Timo Roehrs and Dana Hansen played stellar defense.

Senior Gold 13, Pomperaug A 4 – Kevin Canavan and Tim Wheeler scored three goals and notched two assists each to lead Gold to the win. Jacob Dauz had two goals and two assists as Brian Reszoly, Matt Hill, Conor Collier, Ben Mahony and Max Paynter scored. Andrew Hyland made 13 saves in the cage.

Senior Gold 16, Westport 3 – Kevin Canavan had three goals and one assist, and Brian Reszoly and Tim Wheeler each scored two goals and assisted on two others in the win. Goalie Andrew Hyland continued his stellar play, making 11 saves as longstickmen Chris Murphy and Zach Conger – along with midfielders Kyle O’Connor and Henry Sims – anchored the defense. Brian Reszoly, Mack Fuller, Jacob Dauz and Jaime Vavrek scored two goals apiece as Matt Hill, Kenton Lord and Conor Collier notched one apiece.

Senior Gold 11, Cheshire Black 6 – Christian Beitel scored five goals and assisted on two others to lead Newtown to the win. Tim Wheeler scored three goals and had two assists as Kevin Canavan had two goals and one assist. Conor Collier notched a goal and Jacob Dauz dished off four assists. John Grimaldi, Kyle McNamara, and John Aminti sparked the defense while Kyle O’Connor picked up 11 ground balls.

Junior Boys

Junior Gold 14, Pomperaug A 0 – Lewis Thompson scored two goals and assisted on three others in the win. Max Nacewicz, Jeremy Schaniel, Will Northrop, Justin Brophy and goalie Brandon Body shut down their opponents for the shutout. CJ Ryan scored three goals, Ryan Korth added two and Max Brazo, Mike Zaccaro, Kyle Vignone, Connor Byrne, Willie Provey, Will Northrop and Sean Maher scored one apiece to power the offense. Trey Trudell and Colby Summerlin were strong in the midfield.

Junior Gold 6, Wilton 5 – Kyle Vignone and Ryan Korth each had a goal and an assist as Max Nacewicz and Will Northrop provided unyielding defense to lead Newtown. Lewis Thompson, Brandon Body, CJ Ryan and Willie Provey scored one goal apiece. Provey and Colby Summerlin shared time in the cage and Kurt Nacewicz was strong – and physical – in the midfield to pace the defense.

Junior Blue 9, Guilford 2 – Matt Vavrek had two goals and an assist as John Johnson had a goal and four assists to lead Newtown to the win. Josh Gilbert, Robin Middlebrook, Zach LeMien, Colin Morris, James Radcliffe and Cory Fisher all scored goals. Danny Sclafani, Eric Johnson, Will Fletcher and goaltender David Kreshpan anchored the D.

Junior Blue 11, Cheshire Red 2 – Josh Gilbert had three goals and two assists, John Johnson scored three goals, Michael Lord scored twice, and Matt Vavrek had two goals and four assists in the win. Dan Sclafani, Dave Kreshpan, Drew Seymour and goaltender Louis Raab sparked the defense. Andrew Cebry and Mike Fitzsimons also scored.

Senior Girls

Senior Blue 11, Bethel 3 – Kaley Kruger scored five goals and had two assists and Marnie Thompson added three goals and two assists to lead Newtown. Meredith LaPerch scored twice, had two assists, and gobbled up eight ground balls as Michelle Siladi was a defensive force while scooping four ground balls and dishing off an assist. Bryanne Baye had an assist, Kat Donohue scooped up four ground balls and Rachel Fatse had seven saves in goal.

Senior Gold at Choate Jamboree – The Senior Gold team recorded three wins at the Choate Jamboree, defeating Greenwich (9-2), Hamden (9-5) and Darien 7A (7-2) while falling to Darien 8A (10-5). Goalies Haley Keane and Jackie Isabella were outstanding, combining for 23 saves on the day. Lisa Vendel (eight goals), Megan Kelly (five), Meghan Bridges (five), Betsy Vendel (three), Marnie Thompson (three), Jackie Isabella (two), Keegan Frobey, Brittany Wiberg and Sam Dinnan powered the offense. Molly Murtha, Steph Suhoza, Hannah Glasrud and Annie Fletcher were superb on defense as Devon Ferris, Kara Brown and Nicole Waterhouse all played well.

Junior Girls

Junior Gold 18, Brookfield 1 – Seven different players scored goals as Alyssa Vetrano, Nicole Grindaux and Ashley Cirone  powered the defense.

Junior Gold 12, Bethel 5 – Marisa Cucco, Maggie Atkinson and Ashley Cirone  scored their first goals of the season to lead Newtown to the win. Liz Emerson, Kaitlin Brophy and Maddy Keane also scored goals as Evelyn Fahey, Natalie Clark and Maggie Atkinson each notched an assist. Emma Glasrud had three saves in the cage.

Senior Boys

Princeton 8, Yale 7 – Conor Collier’s second goal of the game proved to be the winner in sudden-death overtime. Ben Mahony had two goals as Kyle McNamara, Kevin Read, Tom Gilbert and Zach Dent also scored for Princeton. Tim Arnone made five saves and Patrick Stein four. For Yale, Christian Beitel had four goals and one assist. Aaron Caldwell had two goals and John Aminti had one. Kevin Canavan had two assists and Jamie Walsh had one. Dylan Heubner made five saves and Dana Hansen kept the Eli in the game.

Brown 9, Dartmouth 4 – Mack Fuller scored three goals and Jacob Dauz had three assists for the winners Kurt Nacewicz had two goals and Rob O’Donnell got one goal and one assist in his lacrosse debut. Andrew Golankiewicz, Connor McNamara and AJ Ritchie also scored goals for the Bears. Andrew Matsis made ten saves in goal to earn the win. For the Green Wave, Tyler Davenport scored twice as Tim Dalton and Jaime Vavrek each had goals. Kevin O’Connell, Max Paynter, and Vavrek each had one assist. Michael Hadgraft made eight saves in the first half and Max Paynter made seven in the second.

Cornell 9, Harvard 8 – Henry Sims and Brian Reszoly each had three goals as the Big Red nipped the Crimson. Michael Mouchantat scored twice and Kevin Brown added another goal to the Cornell total. Tim Wheeler chipped in with one assist.  Harvard kept it close by virtue of four Andrew Hyland goals, two from Kyle O’Connor (who also had an assist), and two from Rocco Guaragno. Rob Albino also tallied an assist on the day.

Yale 8, Harvard 7 – Christian Beitel scored four goals, Kevin Canavan three, and Aaron Caldwell one as Yale nipped Harvard. Spencer Scott assisted on two of the goals.  Cameron Gehrman and Andrew Hyland each had three goals for Harvard and Dylan Kelleher scored once.  Kyle O’Connor had two assists.  Kyle O’Connor and Timo Roehrs made 14 saves for Harvard and John Aminti and Christian Beitel combined for 12 saves for Yale.

Cornell 16, Dartmouth 15 – Daniel Clement netted four goals and Ryan Diluoffo, Michael Mouchantat, Brian Reszoly and Peter Walsh each scored twice to lead Cornell.  Tim Wheeler, Kevin Brown and Henry Sims chipped in with a goal apiece and Brian Murphy notched three assists. For Dartmouth, Clarence Cheung and Matt Hill each scored three goals while Tim Dalton, Zach Haubert and Tom Merrifield popped in two each. Jack MacKay, Max Paynter and Jaime Vavrek also scored.

Brown 14, Princeton 12 – Zach Conger scored four goals as Jacob Dauz, Tyler Hardy and Jamie Bowers scored two goals apiece to lead Brown. Mack Fuller, Harrison Gillis, Andrew Golankiewicz and CJ Donahue all scored. Kyle McNamara, Kevin Read and Zach Dent each scored twice for Princeton. Ben Mahony and Tom Gilbert also scored while Patrick Stein was tough in goal, making 12 saves.

Junior Boys

Syracuse 11, Maryland 7 – Will Northrop and Conor Byrne scored three goals apiece and Colin Morris added two to lead the Orangemen. Kyle Vignone had a goal and two assists with Conor Chilson and Kevin Dennis popping in a goal each. David Kreshpan and Andrew Cebry combined to stop 15 shots in the cage. Jeremy Schaniel led the Terps on offense with two goals and two assists and got help from Colby Summerlin and Matt Grace with two goals apiece. Scott Wexler added a goal and an assist as Ryan Bienkowski and Nick MacKay with assists.

Duke 11, Georgetown 11 – Zach Lemein had three goals and an assist and James Radcliffe had one goal and two assists to lead Georgetown. Justin Brophy and Mike Zaccaro scored twice, Sean Maher had a goal and an assist, and Matt Vavrek and Nick Pedalino scored a goal apiece. For Georgetown, Lewis Thompson scored three goals, Cory Fisher added two goals and an assist and Brendan McNamara scored twice. Stefan Hennessey, Andrew Bouton, Evan Gilchrist and Colin Cinder all scored.

Virginia 14, North Carolina 10 – Max Nacewicz had five goals and two assists and Trey Trudell scored four times to lead the Wahoos over the Tar Heels. Conor Halloran chipped in with three goals and an assist, Ryan Korth had a goal and two assists, Ted Benoit scored once, and Thomas Murphy and Matt Genovese both recorded assists. For North Carolina, Brandon Body scored three goals, Michael Lord scored two goals and assisted on two others. CJ Ryan, Paolo Moscvici, Chris Arnone, Josh Gilbert and Roland Stephen all scored.
