John Hugh McFarlane
John Hugh McFarlane, 82, of Monroe, died on May 5 at St Josephâs Manor, Trumbull.
Born in Australia, he served with the Allies as a sergeant in the Royal Air Force during World War II as a navigator for the bomber command, and was taken as a POW.
He attended Cambridge University in London, and worked as a lawyer in England, and as a chartered engineer for Sikorsky.
 He is survived by his three daughters, Ingrid M. DeAngelis and her husband, Matthew, of the Sandy Hook section of Newtown, Geraldine McFarlane, and Caroline M. Beckenhaupt and her husband, William; three grandchildren, Diana, David, and Molly Beckenhaupt; as well as two brothers, Vincent and Brian McFarlane of Preston, England; and other relatives and friends. Mr McFarlaneâs brother Kevin predeceased him.
 Funeral services were held on May 9 in the Lesko-Miner Funeral Home, Monroe. Burial followed in Monroe Center Cemetery.
